I am digging everything I see in JS2. One question. With JS1 it was really easy to pull up JS, pick a style and hit play on my host to hear immediate drumming while I start tweaking with the controls. I can't seem to figure out how to put JS2 into this mode. It seems that I must create a part and compose to the part, listen, recompose, listen, etc.. Is there a way to put it into a mode where I can just let it play continously while I fool with the sliders and such. At one point I got it to happen by loading one of the demo parts, then somehow I was able to change styles and drummers and fool around with the sliders. but I was wondering if there is a way to do this without loading a part. I tried to create a new part, but it wasn't working, then it was, then it wasn't. The new song construction looks great and will definitely come in handy, but I do miss the interactive mode of JS1 when I'm in a songwriting phase where I'm not ready to write parts.

In JS 2 there are the Quickstart songs for this. They have a rather "vague" structure, so no problem to jam along. You can also customize a special Quickstart song that suits your needs more.

So you're saying that I *MUST* have at least one part on the song list in order to hear drumming?

There IS a part there by default: you can't even delete it. So all you have to do is load a style and you are done. I can't see how that is more complicated than with JS1... Just cancel the screen with the Quickstart songs, load a style in the already existing part and you are done. (Well, you've got to load a kit first of course! And it might be nice to add a drummer. And to change the amount of repetitions...)

Use a 'jam' quickstart song or create your own with a part that has 4 or 8 bars length and 200 or more repetitions. This makes JS groove on the same part for a long time. Make sure AUTO above the COMP button is lit and BAR under the COMP button is lit as well. Now you can change the brain sliders to your hearts content.

If you need to work on a single bar, use the rounded arrow to the left of the bar editor to have JS repeat the bar over and over so you can fine-tune while you hear.

Well I got it working somehow last night by tweaking with the part, but I did spend about 1-2 hours listening to silence while I figured it out. FWIW.

and yea, my solution was to create a 4 bar part with reps set to 200. That made it all work.

One suggestion, another loop mode where the default part is a 4 bar part that loops to infinite.
