OK, I installed it and the default kit. THANKS!!!

Now I have all the other JS1 packs installed in JS1 and though it said in the download info I need to install them I'm not sure if I do - when I load kit there is a Jamstix 1 category in the tree with what looks like links to all the JS1 packs that I already had installed.

Do I really need to install the packs into JS2 again, and therefor uninstall JS1 and all the packs or can I use the packs from the JS1 install directory [if I don't fully uninstall it]

or do you recommend uninstall JS1 completely and reinstall all packs into the new js2 directory?

ty, kt

ps: sounds better than JS1 just on first impression...and thanks for the afrocuban timings!

No need to re-download or re-install. Jamstix 2 will automatically find your Jamstix 1 sounds and Pak sounds and use them. That's what you saw in the tree under 'Jamstix 1'.

ty!

oops...went ahead and installed my old ones anyway...I gather these are now expanded in the js2/data/sounds directory and should be selectable from the load screen: eg: Jazz/brush kit[xl] for example.

So when I'm fully ported to JS2 I can just uninstall JS1 and delete it's data folders and JS2 will just not look for them on startup?

I still need to copy some arrangements and songs over from js1 to js2 so will run them in parallel for a while till I'm fully ported.

ty for a coool tool!

I'd keep JS1 around since it is so different and just delete any redundant sound files to save HD space.

Yes, really. I mean, unless someone is sure they never need to go back to previous music projects that use JS1, you should not uninstall JS1. My understanding is that JS2 will not open JS1 projects. Is this still correct?

Yes, that is correct.

That's ok, I only really need to import some JS1 rhythms which it does fine.

Found a wicked little groove already just fiddling around! Nice!

It's a very different beast, but it sounds great.

One thing I'm trying to find - I was sure I saw this answered in the forum a little while ago but can't locate the post now. It was to do with jamming on audio...while the rhythms may get varied if you play the audio input at a constant level it does not seem as if the individual drums get much variation in velocity or location hits...as would happen with a rl drummer. I'd like more tonal variation in addition to rhythmic...am I missing something where I can control this and vary the effect? Not so much accents, but tonal variation of velocities on the main grooves like snare and.or toms. IS this just related to limitations of velocity layers of the sample packs [which was in the original post if I recall correctly]

EDIT: just RTFMing while playing around and maybe I answered my own q: Velocity vary in the Feel Processor does what I'm after?

Cheers, kt

Yes, 'Velocity Vary' is what you're looking for.
