Hi, I'm a new user of Jamstix (X9-9) and I'm wondering if it works correctly with energyxt(SA, 1.4 beta 27-feb)?
I can't seem to get any signature other than 4/4 in eXT, whilst I can get Jamstix to respond to signature in Tracktion/FL Studio. Could any experienced eXT users here share some tricks with me?
*It doesn't seem to matter whether I use signature envelope or not. Jamstix doesn't respond to sequencer comp's own main signature either...
**BTW, I'm referring to using jamstix in the sequencer comp, as there's no other comp can adjust the the time signature settings. |

I've been fiddling with Energy-XT a bit and since Jamstix is the foundation of how I work now...
I can attach jamstix outside the sequencer somewhere between the master in and out and it will play when I press the master Play, but the sequencer doesn't play in this configuration.
I can drop it on the sequencer which creates some kind of an output from the sequencer that doesn't show up on the modular screen for wiring. That works, but I miss being able to draw the wires around
I thought I had it working attached between the sequencer and the master out, but I can't seem to get it going again, so perhaps I was mistaken.
Anyone using JS and ext? |

I purchased Jamstix and was really exited about it at first. But the longer I experiment with it, the more disapointed I get. Jamstix is a nice tool for mainstream work. But two steps beside it gets confused.
My problems:
In EXT it doesn't detect any time signatures.
In Logic 5.51 it only detects one and no changes.
These are the two hosts I work with.
My songs however contain often signature changes such as a half bar more before the bridge and so on. So Jamstix gets useless for me.
Could anybody help me?
JoPiano
P.S. I will post the same in the logic column. |

Hi there,
I am not a long-time Jamstix-user, but after some questions how to setup Jamstix for a free jam in EnergyXT I thought I'd write this down.
JAM WITH MIDI in EXT:
Setting up Jamstix in the sequencer of EXT is easy. Take any vst-instrument you have. You can use some prerecorded stuff, or, what I did, something you just start to create.
1. Load the VSTit into the Sequencer of EnergyXT, route it to master out 1 in your XT-mixer.
2. Load Jamstix in a second midi-track.
3. Route the first of Jamstix outputs to master out 2. You have more outs, but about this others might tell me more than I could tell them right now:-). Route all you want to diff outs.
4. Open Jamstix. Put it to FREE JAM-mode. Check in the screen right below that jam with MIDI, not Audio, is on. The knob which you can turn clockwise there decides about the velocity you can use. I play a chord as hard as I want with my VSTi, and look if the slider to the left of the knob gets just to green 100% with it.
5. go to your VSTi, hit the PLAY button in EnergyXT, and play along. You should have Jamstix open and see this slider moving, while you play, in the red low area if you play very silent, in the very right-green when loud.
The yellow light in the right-bottom corner lights up.
I'll post again about using Jamstix in the main-window of EnergyXT. As EXT is modular, you can combine crazy things in the main window, and of course use Jamstix in there too.
Again, this works fine here, but i case I can't edit my post here I'll post a corrected version if this is not working for other energyXT-users... |

Hi Klemperer,
I've had mixed results getting jamstix to work in eXT's main window, with DK+, the way I do it is load DK+ from the mappings tab after selecting External vsti, after that I can go to the rhythms tab and load various rhythms, but can't configure DK+ further. The manual has 3 lines explaining the external vsti section of JS, which isn't v.helpful. If I ever get it working properly I'll post here. |

I have Odo's nice things since quite some time (and donated twice, he's such a nice fellow ), but didn't try dr-fusion2 in Jamstix. If I get any better result, I'll write it here.
And thanks MUCH flippya2k. I tried it in the sequencer of XT only. |

eXT2 is still in beta and many plugins do not work with it. Hopefully future eXT2 betas will remedy this situation. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hello Ralph !
I'm very disapointed again ! JS don't work with eXT2 even in the latest version (06/01/2007)... May be do you take contact with Jorgen Aase for remedy to this trouble ... I'm thinking that is a small bug between JS and eXT2 ... I hope to be working cool with eXT2 and JS 2.0 in a near future !
Cheers ... |

The problem is known and was posted on the eXT2 forum. It is clear that this is a eXT2 issue and I'm sure Jorgen will fix it when he gets around to it. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Using the current beta version of EXT2 (24 nov) I find that JS2 will not play (It won't follow the sequencer transport). Seems like the new beta did not fix this. |

I've just tried JS 2.5.2 with the latest XT2 - no start/stop response with XT2 transport.
XT 1.41 seems to respond OK though ... |
