Hi all,

I have a silly issue that I would love some feedback on.

I had a great pattern that jamstix generated for me. I use Ableton v6 so I saved the pattern as MIDI. I thought I had a clean midi output but it seems to be slightly off from the original (the last beat or so in the pattern is off).

I would like to get that pattern back, however, unfortunately I made a change to jamstix before I saved my latest copy, so I can't seem to get that great pattern back.

I actually have a mp3 of what the good pattern sounds like (however, with some other instruments in the mix as well).

I can't navigate around jamstix that well yet so I was wondering if anyone can offer advise? Or even help me re-build that pattern.

Any feedback would be really appreciated!

Thanks,
A

Surely, if it's just the last beat of the pattern that is wrong, you can simply use a midi editor to put it right?

Given the way it works, I would have thought the chances of JS generating exactly the same pattern twice are pretty remote (certainly as far as 'free jam' mode is concerned).

Hi! Smile

IMO I can´t be bothered with Midi in Live 6 because it´s still simply broken.
When you export Midi or record JS´Midi Output the result simply isn´t like it´s supposed to be.
Ableton was not able (pun intended) to fix this issue from Live 5 to 6. Let´s wait for 7 then.
Otherwise I love this host.

The good thing:

With JS 2 midi editing in your host will become more or less unnecessary, because of its built in step sequencer features.

Thanks for your feedback guys.

I knew there were some issues with MIDI and ableton. But, I thought the work around was to simply export the MIDI....not record the MIDI out. I guess that is not the case.

Unfortunately it is not just the last beat...but it is the last few beats.

I guess I am now wondering if there is any way to get that same pattern I generated in free jam? I have all of the same backing tracks that were used to generate the initial pattern. So my guess that is a large help.

Any more ideas would be great.

Thanks!
A

Send me an MP3 of the pattern and I'll do my best to match it.

thanks so much for the offer Ralph. You really do have amazing support!

I will definitely get the examples off to you later this week. If you don't mind, via email.

Such a huge help!

Thanks again,
A
