Greetings!

Loading Jamstix with Cubase 4 as my host.

Here's what I've got:

"JAMSTIX: Installing sounds from Crash - 16" Synthetik DP2 CS _s02.rzd..."

With that message still on the screen in a plain white box, the following dialog appears: "An error occurred during the data load after "Sample Load" with message: Stream read error"

The last dozen or so entries in the startup log contain the following:

Code:
<2> Loading accent:H:\Program Files\Jamstix\accents\Tripletto.raf
<2> Loading accent:H:\Program Files\Jamstix\accents\Trommeltanz.raf
<2> Loading accent:H:\Program Files\Jamstix\accents\Tumble down 4 snare.raf
<2> Loading accent:H:\Program Files\Jamstix\accents\Two toms.raf
<2> Loading accent:H:\Program Files\Jamstix\accents\Universal.raf
<2> Loading accent:H:\Program Files\Jamstix\accents\Use it All.raf
<2> Loading accent:H:\Program Files\Jamstix\accents\Use the wrist.raf
<2> Loading accent:H:\Program Files\Jamstix\accents\Wait A Moment.raf
<2> Loading accent:H:\Program Files\Jamstix\accents\Wake up.raf
<2> Loading accent:H:\Program Files\Jamstix\accents\Walk away.raf
<2> Loading accent:H:\Program Files\Jamstix\accents\Watch Me!.raf
<2> Loading accent:H:\Program Files\Jamstix\accents\Welcomed Break.raf
<2> Loading accent:H:\Program Files\Jamstix\accents\What was that.raf
<2> Loading accent:H:\Program Files\Jamstix\accents\Where were we.raf
<2> Loading accent:H:\Program Files\Jamstix\accents\Woodfille

This is where the aforementioned error dialog box appears. After I respond to the error dialog with "OK", JS proceeds to load (but no more messages appear), and the following entries are added to the log:

And yes, that last entry really does look like that, "<18"...almost as if it's incomplete.

I suspect that one of the drumpacks (maybe the epak, based on the message above?) is bad and may need to be re-downloaded; but I'm not sure which one it might be.

What should I do next? I hesitate using the product at the moment...

EDIT: I've been using it anyhow. It seems to work, but I've only played with it for about 30 minutes. And of course, the aforementioned error leaves room for doubt as to proper installation.

EDIT2: On a hunch, I re-downloaded and re-copied the epak over to my "addons" folder, but JS didn't know it was a new pack, so it didn't offer to re-install it. Not sure how to re-install a pack, so I stopped there and decided to wait for instructions via this thread.

Thanks in advance!

The Pak in question is DrumPak #2. Your Jamstix is working fine you may just be missing some sounds from DrumPak #2. Please re-download DrumPak #2 and extract it into the 'addons' folder. Also, you can force a re-install by opening jamstix.ini and
deleting any lines like this:

DrumPak #2 Part 1.rxp=1
DrumPak #2 Part 2.rxp=1

from the [AddOns] section.

This time I received the same error at message

"JAMSTIX: Installing sounds from Crash - 18" Signal A DP2 CS_s01.rzd"

I'll bet this is not the fault of a bad download. I am going to retry the installation with my firewall and antivirus disabled.

Nope, same error continues to haunt me, even with my antivirus and firewall turned off.

The installation appears to work okay, but the error happens after the appearance of "Loading Accents", and it's the same one, Signal A DP2 CS_S01.RZD

Not ready to give up on this, however! I'll do some more experiementation.

I finally got it resolved. I think.

I downloaded and installed Minihost, and loaded it with Jamstix. The error continued to occur the same way that it had under Cubase 4. I deleted the sample file that showed up in the error message, cleared the .INI entry, and let it re-re-install.

Same error would show up, but it appeared to be complaining about a new sample file. So I deleted that one, cleared the INI file entry again and proceeded that way.

Eventually, I got JS to load without any error or sample/streaming messages. I shut down Minihost, restarted Cubase, and it appeared to work.

I don't believe this was a Cubase problem per se, and I have a gut feeling confidence that I probably could have fixed it all the same if Minihost wasn't available.

Seems to be working fine now.

Sorry for the hassle but we're glad you've got it worked out. Thanks!

I've got the same problem. I bought as part of the group buy. I uninstalled Jamstix and I was able to install the base kits, and the brush kit. But it keeps hanging on one of the other kits.

Please tell me exactly what it is hanging on and what error you are getting.

Thanks Ralph,

I can't, because when I move the error message, the display behind it is gone. That is, the names go by so fast that I can't tell. And when it stops, the error message obscures the file it stopped on.

Well, am I making progress? I've uninstalled jamstix several times, the reinstalled, and each time it comes across a new file that it will load. then it comes to one it can't, so I uninstall and then reinstall and it is successful for that one file. But I still haven't gotten them all installed. And are the ones I installed on an eralier install of jamstix still viable? I dunno, because I've never gotten them all installed nor the application started after skipping installation without the stream read error.

Please don't uninstall/reinstall, that is just going to waste your time. If you tell me what the error message is exactly, I will be able to help you.

Error Message during Install wrote:
"An error occurred during the data load after "Sample Load" with message: Stream read error"

Thank you Ralph,

Is it possible that this message could be related to lack of disk space? All RXP files are on the same drive, and I have 1.4 GB free on that drive. After moving two kits (2 parts each) into the addons folder, I am left with 225 MB. I have not moved in the brush & ekit kits because I'm sure I'll get the error again. What do you think? Disk space related?

Regards,

Joe

You are definitely running low on disk space. Either free up some space or move the entire Jamstix folder to a drive with more space. You can leave the DLLs behind.
