I tried to find reference to this in the forum but couldn't find mention of it by anyone else:

Running Jamstix in Cubase SL2, Free Jam, start Cubase running, bar and beat counter in Jamstix is consistently 2 beats ahead of the bar and beat counter in Cubase, sounds produced are completely in sync with Cubase counter, e.g. fills begin at precisely bar 8 beat 1 in Cubase but apparently at bar 8 beat 3 in Jamstix. Not a big problem but using the Arrange screen means that the song pointer can be indicating one bar ahead of where the "song" actually is.

Is there any way to make the JS Bar counter run in absolute sync with the Cubase Bar counter?

Hope all this makes sense!

TIA

Add this line to your jamstix.ini file anywhere in the [General] section to account for the offset:

BarOffset=2

Thanks again for such a quick response!

Just a thought: since the counter is 2 beats out should that be:

BeatOffset=2 ?

Oops, I didn't read that right.

BarOffset can only handle full bars, not beats. I've never heard of a beat offset before with Jamstix. I'll have to chew on this...

Thanks again for all your efforts!

Yes, BeatOffset doesn't resolve the problem; the Bar and Beat Counters go even further out of sync!! Shall remove the extra line from the .ini file.

Just to update this topic...

The same problem occurs with JS2; the bar and beat counter in JS2 is consistently 2 beats ahead of that in Cubase, but, as before, the actual drum patterns heard are in time with the Cubase counter.

Only a problem when trying to edit a JS2 pattern; the sound heard is two beats "behind" the graphic editor.

The fact that no-one else reports this suggests it must be something peculiar to my set-up but I'd certainly like to be able to cure it!
