Hi,

I'm interested in Jamstix, but am not sure if my existing setup is going to work with it. If anybody can give me any pointers I would appreciate it!

I'm using a sequencer - which is also a software controller for my Roland hard disk recorders - which doesn't have any kind of VST capability. This is VS Pro, from Datasonics. Can Jamstix run on its own, in sync with this kind of sequencer program, or does it have to have a VST host?

I don't currently have a soundcard installed: I have an Edirol USB to MIDI interface, which connects my PC to my hard disk recorders, as well as to my MIDI input device (a guitar synth) and a sound module. Could Jamstix work with this, outputting via the sound module (Roland JV-1010) or do I need a specific soundcard?

Finally - my music PC is not internet connected (intentionally). Can I download a demo to CD-R and load this in that way?

Sounds like a great product though!

Thanks for any help you can give on this.

Rich

No, you need a VSTi host to run Jamstix.

Jamstix needs a VSTi host and the host determines audio routing.

Yes, you can load it via CD-R without Internet.

Rich, several years ago I used VS Pro, too, together with my old VS 1680.
there are free VST hosts like SAVIhost that can host Jamstix just fine. Just route the Audio out to your VS HD recorder.

Thanks for your replies Ralph & Doc.

Doc, I'll have to Google SAVIhost, this sounds interesting! I use a 1680 with VS Pro, together with a VS-890. There are some other VS Pro folk who are interested in Jamstix, so I'll point them in the direction of this forum / thread.

Cheers,

Rich

Rich, SAVIhost can be found here:
http://www.hermannseib.com/savihost.htm

Once you have unzipped it, you must copy the savihost.exe into your Jamstix folder.
Then rename the savihost.exe to jamstix.exe
Doubleclicking jamstix.exe will open savihost with Jamstix then.

Thanks Doc!

I did manage to find SAVIhost and had a quick read up on it. And I've today bought the Jamstix package! Very Happy

Do you have any suggestion as to the best way to run SAVIhost / Jamstix together with VS Pro? I guess they could run side by side, with Start / Stop functions working together in sync? Confused

Cheers,

Rich
