Ralph,
I have been making great music with JS1, thank you for the updates at no additional cost. Thanks for the great support and care given to your clients. I will be back to purchase JS2 when available. Thanks again from a really good guitarist and really lousy drummer.

| The new updates look promising. I am just getting into Jamstix1 and there is so much for me to do with it...it will be well past July before I even know what I wish for. I'm extremely interested in JamBassist too. These two applications together are going to save this guitar/keyboard player a lot of time when laying down tunes. |

With JS2 we attempted to get even more power under the hood but also make it easier to use for those who don't need a lot of control and just want to get something out of the box. Therefore, JS2 comes with 'Quickstart' songs that have a preset song structure, brain settings, kit and mixer settings, such as '12 Bar Blues'. You load it up and you are ready to go.
On the other end of the spectrum is the power user who may hand-program their grooves in the bar editor and just let the JS brain handle timing, power variances and fills. For example: with JS2 you can disable the kick and snare aspect of the brain, hand place your kick and snares in the bar editor and then have the brain add hats and accents. I know a lot of the power users will love that.

Hi Ralph.
First let me tell you I'm a very happy user of Jamstix for about a year. I use it on almost every project I make with incredible results. I've been following with excitement the progress on JS2, and I can't hardly wait a release date. The only thing I'm little concerned about is the quality of the samples. Not that JS1 has bad samples, but I tend to use more Jamstix brains and EZDrummer samples. I'm more into heavy metal and hard rock kind of stuff.
Have a few questions:
- Will JS2 be packed with newer and improved kits?
- I'm using Reaper as a host, and I'm very impressed with it's portability. Have you ever considered the possibility to have JS2 installed on a removable device?. I would love to see Reaper + Jamstix as my "Studio To Go" solution.
- Not very important for me, but what about GUI internationalization? or language packs?

Jamstix comes with a new kit that has the same detail/quality as the DrumPak #2/SnarePak kits, except for higher hihat opening detail (5 levels instead of 3) and a punchy modern kick drum (D112 miked).
We can't go above that level because of pricing. EZDrummer currently costs $130 on sale at MF. All you get is a (very good) sample player/samples and MIDI clips. We'd have to charge a lot more than $99 to get that into Jamstix 2 and still provide the complex JS2 brain, arranger, kit editing, editing facilities etc.
We'd rather charge less, focus on the AI and let you combine JS2 easily with EZDrummer, BFD, AD and all the other great drum libraries available.

I think REAPER is a great tool made by a great dev. We are thinking about portability but there are license control system issues at this time.

GUI skinning and internationalizationare on the wish list but not for 2.0.

not that i see myself as a power user, but yeah i will love that - was actually been thinking about something along those lines last week - can't wait! |

YES!
I have always created my rhythms from sctatch, not because I consider myself a drummer, but because the kick rhythm has to fit what I'm writing. I would be happy to leave the rest of the rhythm to jamstix, and often thought that this feature would be great!

YES!

Here I have created a solo using the 'Modern Funk' style and the 'James Stix' drummer. Everything is created on-the-fly using drumming logic and NOT pre-made fills.
