I already have Jamstix and frankly I think the sounds are quite good, particularly the snares. I have heard BFD in the past and was pretty blown away by the quality of the samples. One thing I liked was really nice hit hat possibilities and mic positioning stuff. However, my gawd its an expensive drum library, especially if you start buying their ridiculously priced expansion paks...and you need huge HD space for it.

I'm just wondering how many of you feel it is still worth it to use together with jamstix Jamboree, even as expensive and HD space hogging it is?

Well, this issue has been discussed many times. Smile
It all depends of what you personally think: If another SuperMultiLayer drum library like BFD (or DFHS, for that matter) can add the edge "more" that you are maybe missing from the internal JS sounds.

My personal experience:
I haven´t come to use my DFHS since I have Jamstix and the packs.
This also has to do with the fact that DFHS (and BFD as well) are very raw sounding and need a lot of treatment.

But I couldn´t resist buying Addictive drums recently with its in-built reverb processor, compressor, filter etc.
Just sounds VERY VERY good out of the box, can (but needn´t necessarily) be treated further and is driven perfectly by the Jamstix engine.
And has a pretty interface, too.

Is it mainly the filters you get when you buy addictive drums or are there other drums/sounds not found in Jamstix? I have all the expansions except for e-pak.

I see AD more as an all in one drum production solution which possesses (besides very good multi-layered sounds) everything I could possibly need for the treatment of a given drum sound. You can download a fully functional demo (only resricted in number of instruments) from www.xlnaudio.com
