|
|
Currently I have a project with 4/4 time-signature where in the middle of the song it changes to 2/4 for 1 bar then continues with 4/4.
When Jamstix reaches 2/4 it changes correct, but after this 2/4 bar, it does something wrong (adds a second 2/4 bar in Jamstix).
Could you try it ?
Song: 4/4 -> 2/4 -> 4/4......
Jamstix counts: 1/2/3/4 -> 1/2 -> 1/2 -> 1/2/3/4..... _________________ PC i7 870 2.93GHz, 8GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 5500, RME Multiface I, Win7 Home 64bit, StudioOne2Pro, Wavelab7 |

... and what would happen if I tried
4/4 - 5/4 - 4/4 - 7/4?
Would it crash?
I think I just try out now, hehehe ... _________________ Frank

The problem with time signature changes is that the VST specification has no facility to properly report the bar position to Jamstix in such cases. In other words, from the data reported by the host one cannot deduct what bar it is at if the time signature changed prior to that point.
VST only reports quarter note positions and current time signature.
We'll try to come up with a work-around. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph,
does this happen also with the DXi version converted to, with Directixer?
Cheers

Yes, it does. The problem is in the VST interface itself, which the DXi wrapper just wraps around. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Cheers m8!!
I guess a workaround would be to do the loopback midi, just record the midi, then edit it. |

Yes or kind of record in sections and then MIDI-out or bounce them. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

It would be cool then to implement a verse, chorus, etc structure to Jamstix, so we could do something like that.

Yep, I have the same prob. in this track:
http://www.angelfire.com/rock3/daguru/ GuruOne-BackAgain_jamstix_mix.mp3
I also think it'd be nice if "Ray" (Jamstix) could be made to go quiet (automatically) when the music goes quiet
This one is kinda better:
http://www.angelfire.com/rock3/daguru/ GuruOne-MovieTheme2_jamstix_mix.mp3
U can compare these to the original trax @ www.mp3.com.au/GuruOne and http://daguru.iuma.com
Rich
ps. All Jamstix mixes were made in Free Jam mode, no messin'... Just the way I like it

Jamstix should go quiet if you set the minimum velocity slider to zero.
It it's not zero it will alsways do littel hi-hat hits during silence, but at zero it is silent.

Zauni,
I have the same issue as PeterL except in 6/8 with a measure of 3 here and there. Is it possible to call getTimeInfo often enough to request tempo and time signature info from the host for each bar?
Thanks,
Steve |

No, Jamstix already calls getTimeInfo during every buffer fetch. The issue is that getTimeInfo does not tell you the bar, it only tells you the number of quarter beats reached and the current time signature. From that you cannot deduct what changes in time sig may have happened before the current position, each of which would change how you have to use the quarter beat count to calculate the bar number.
We plan to work-around this by storing time sigs for each bar in Jamstix. This will require that you play once sequentially through the song so Jamstix can pick that info up. If you jump around a lot or edit time sigs subsequently it will be okay as long as there are no gaps of unplayed bats before the position where Jamstix doesn't know the tim sig, yet. This isn't perfect but we think it will be bearable. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks for the explanation! Sounds like storing the time signatures for each bar would be a perfect solution for me.

Would this just be for a whole bar though?
What if you wanted to do a kind of quick step change on a 1/4 of the bar?
Cheers
Just throwing questions at ya dude!!!
