I'm still using the old VST slot in Cubase 4 and it works fine. Has anyone been using the new instrument track feature. Are there any advantages or disadvantages you have come across?

Well, the "traditional method" allows for JS multiple outs to be applied in the way we know and love. As I understand it, Steinberg, in their infinite wisdom, makes assignment of the MIDI instrument and mapping to output lickety split with the Instrument Channel function.

However, I believe you'd need to run multiple instances of Jamstix (as many instrument channels as there will be drums/kit pieces) to get multiple outs in version 4. I think Instrument tracks are great for stereo out synth tracks or quick drum demos, but the "old school" way still is probably most efficient.

Someone chime in and correct me if I'm wrong, but I've been happily using Cubase 4.0.3 for a few weeks now without a hitch. It seems to work very well with the latest release of JS 1.8.x all the way around.
