I bought Jamsticks last May and was using the Samplitude/DFHS combo and it is all worked really nicely. A few months have elapsed whilst I have been concentrating on mixing and mastering a project. I've since reinstalled my OS Windows XP service Pack 2 and thought I would get up and running again using Jamsticks within the Samplitude V9.1 triggering DFHS/C&V so I could jam out some ideas for songs. The problem is I can use the internal Jamsticks sounds but as soon as I switch to the external Drummer Vsti I'm getting complete silence. This is using Samplitude 9.1 and also the older 8.3. I've tried reinstalling older versions of Jamsticks and DFHS to no avail. So it all remains a mystery to me.
Last night as a test I downloaded the Acid Pro 6d demo in order to try out the Jamsticks/DFHS combination. I loaded up Jamsticks into a Midi track, selected a keyword jam and pressed play and it began triggering the internal sounds. I then switched to external VSTi and loaded a C&V preset and gradually the sounds started playing as they loaded and it worked perfectly. Following the same procedure in Samplitude results in only silence. As it turns out Acid Pro works rather nicely with Jamsticks and may be the ideal sketchpad for writing songs but it would be great to get it working in Samplitude again as it's my main Host . Any help or comments will be gratefully received.

Hi and welcome to the boards!
How is your routing?
I don´t know enough about Samplitude (I use Cubase and Ableton Live), but I know that in some hosts (e.g. Live 6) you have to create Audio tracks manually to give DFHS the ability to route its outputs correctly (it´s 12 Outputs in DFHS). In Cubase on the other hand the Audio tracks are created automatically.
And: How many outputs have you selected in JS?
As I said, for DFHS you need 12 Outs. |

Also, make sure you have Jamstix 1.81 running (check About tab) because there have been changes to MIDI output structures. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Doc and Ralph ,
Thank you for your replies. I am using Jamstix 1.81 and I've also tried earlier versions. I am also using DFHS 1.60 and tried earlier versions as well in various combinations. As far as the routing goes there are various options in Samplitude and here is a screen capture of the one I tried :
As you can see there are 12 tracks but I have a feeling these are just for routing the internal sounds. Because DFHS opens up within Jamstix there doesn't seem to be away to route the outputs of DFHS. I'm presuming this is all done internally within Jamstix. I'm sure it wasn't as convoluted as this when I had it working last May. All I did was open at Jamstix on a track switch to external Vsti loaded up a DFHS kit and everything worked fine. Maybe there is a missing ingredient I have forgotten. I've also tested Jamstix in both Acid Pro and Fruity Loops and this method works fine in both of them. So there must be some kind of routing anomaly I am not aware of. Anyway it's not a complete dealbreaker as the internal sounds in Jamstix are very good as well although I've gotten used to working with the DFHS and C&V kits.

That's quite odd. I don't have Samp here so I cannot test but it is very odd that the host should affect what happens between JS and DFHS within JS. Please send me the file rzdlog.txt, maybe I can see something in there. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph ,
I think I've fopund the culprit . It's DFHS 1.60 . I did a rollback Starting with Samp 8.31, DFHS 1.55 and Jamstix 1.61 and everything worked fine including in Samp 9.1 . Then I installed DFHS 1.56 . Still OK . Then DFHS 1.60 - No sound . Reverted back to 1.56 and updated Jamstix to 1.81 everything was ok . So it seems that 1.60 is no go in Samplitude at this time .All versions of Jamstix worked in Samp providing DFHS 1.60 wasn't installed . The odd thing is that I'm sure I'd tried reverting back to 1.56 before but it didn't seem to fix the problem but when I did the tests starting everything from scratch 1.60 revealed itself as the troublemaker .Thanks for your help and I'm sorry if I caused you too much distraction when then problem was in DFHS after all . Looking forward to V2 sometime in the future
All the best

Thanks for the update. I still don't understand how a problem between JS and DFHS 1.6 can lead to problems in Samp 9.1 but not in other hosts. I'll keep this on the back burner for further research. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I'm still confirming this myself. I've got as far as seeing audio activity in the mixer, but no audio with dfhS 1.6. (I'm still running Jamstix 1.7, so I will go grab the latest release).
The new aux/VST monitoring schemes inside Samplitude 9.1 may be contributing to the problems between Jamstix, dfhS and the effect monitoring.
Apparently Toontrack is looking into this issue.
THanks,

Jamstix 1.81 is working fine for me in Samplitude 9.1 - in stand-alone mode.
However, when launching dfhS via the GUI, it loads dfhS just fine, but even after loading sounds I get NO sound out of dfhS.
I'm still investigating possible routing issues, but no luck yet.
I THINK I remember a popup asking if you wanted to add extra tracks for the dfhS sounds, but this no longer happens. I've checked the various modes in Samplitude (audio/MIDI overlap, separate tracks, etc.) with no go.
I think something is broken between the latest Jamstix 1.81, dfhS 1.6, and Samplitude 9.1's 'enhanced' routing schemes.
Anyone else have luck with this configuration?
Thanks,
