Hi Ralph, Just curious, will JS2 be capable of doing what I would call "cymbal fills"? You know like in mellow parts where the drummer is doing little fills on the ride and hh leading up to the 1st beat. The best example I can think of would be the part in Aqualung by Tull where the guitar solo starts before the rest of the band enters. Not the cymbal swells but the other little paradiddle stuff in between. Hope this makes sense. Tim

There are two ways to do this in Jamstix 2:

Fill Focus

The fill generator in Jamstix has a 'focus', meaning you can adjust how much he wants to play certain drums. This is currently adjustable for 'Snare', 'Toms' and 'HiHat' (kick is dealt with separately). So you can set the hihat focus to max and the others to zero so that the fills are all mostly played on the hats.

Resounding

Many drummer models in Jamstix 2 have a composition filter that can re-route sounds to other sounds while they are being composed. You can set the filter to target 'All' and to resound to 'Light Cymbals' and then assign a MIDI controller (let's say Mod Wheel) to the filter to control it.

couldn't you do something like this in JS 1 by soloing the cymbals and setting the accent faders accordingly?
