Hi,
I know about as much about getting a good drum sound as I do about birthin' babies... which means pretty much diddly. I have downloaded 1.2G and have made decent headway with it in terms of getting Jamstix to at least sound like someone hitting drum pads, cymbols, etc... definitely not Jamstix's fault if it doesn't sound convincing. I have loaded Presets, et cetera and I think I understand the bare essentials... there is a quantum leap from understanding the bare essentials to making music with a given instrument.
Are there any plans (in the future) to have a kind of a "wizard" which a rookie could pop-up and Jamstix could ask "What genre of music are we talking here?" then "Here are some examples of that type of genre... which one is closest?" Then Jamstix would load that particuar arrangement and rhythm.
Perhaps Jamstix could come up with "export" tool, and the file created could be sent back to Jamstix headquarters with an explanation of what the drum arrangements could be used for. Then other users could import this file. This goes beyond and a bit sideways of what exists now in Jamstix.
Maybe even some "don't be an idiot" messages for rookies when they chose something ludicrous... I don't know what that might be so I can't give you an example!
Basically, I am also looking for some form of an educational tool. For drums, I like what Jamstix has to offer over and above Fruity Loops (which I do own). Right now, however, I am lost in the forrest of drums! Who knew a drummer had to know all this stuff!
