|

Hello, i tried the demo version. It looks very interesting. I recognized, that there is the possibility to use other drum sounds. I own Scarbee Imperial Drums XL, hosted by a Halion Player from Steinberg. Is it possible to create a mapping for this one? I have seen that there are mappings for BFD and DFHS. It it possible to change this ones for the Imperial Drums and how long will it take? Maybe someone can answer this newbee question, thanks.

Hi Stefan, it's easy to make your own mapping for Scarbee. Just go to the mapping tab, click 'External VSTi' and select your Scarbee DLL. The Scarbee GUI will appear and you'll want to select your desired kit.
Now make sure 'Map GM Input' is unchecked and then go through each entry in the sound list of the mapping tab (Kick, Snare etc.) and on each hit the 'Audit' button. If the sound is not correct, change the key so it is correct.
When you're done click 'Save' in the mapping tab to store your new mapping. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I'm also trying to use the SCarbee drums and their are a few problems in doing this mapping.
Scarbee strangely uses CC1 rather than CC4 for hi-hat opening. I noticed you have recently discussed this on the German forum and your suggestion of adding a CC4/1 switch would be great. It would also be good if this controller could be sent in MIDI Only mode as I like to keep Scarbee running in my host rather than in Jamstix.
However, there is another problem, Scarbee also uses CC1 to control where the ride symbol is hot so it uses the same note for the shoulder and the cup.
I think what I will have to do is write an MFX translator plugin that lets me transform the MIDI info on the fly. Unfortunately that means learning to write MFX plugs since my host doesn't support MIDI only VST plugs. |

Hi pjl,
if you want to change the controller which opend the HiHat or where the ride is played, it is very easy to program this with Halion, not with the Halion Player. You can change the controller settings in Halion on the sound page in the area "MOD" "MEGATRIG". If you use Halion and you are not able to find it, i can send you a screenshot.

Stefan,
Thanks, yes I was aware that this can be changed although I haven't tried it yet. However, that doesn't solve the ride shoulder/bell issue so I think I will have to write the translator plugin anyway. Because I use SONAR I thought I would have to write an MFX plugin to solve this but I have just found a way I can use VST (much easier for me to do) by making it a VSTi. Hopefully this will solve the whole mapping problem. |
