What we call a 'mapping' in Jamstix 1 is now being called a 'kit' in Jamstix 2.

A 'kit' contains internal sound information just like a 'mapping' but it also contains all mixer information, including the new EQs. This means that you can load/save kits with various EQ and compression settings. You will have the option to exclude the mixer when loading a kit so that you can preserve a specific mixer state when desired.

We've worked hard on making everything much more flexible in JS2 and also very expandible as we move forward.

Something tells me it's going to be something special!

It will be so nice to have an EQ included in things. All we need is a reverb(or more flexible ambience!)!

Time for another Jamstix 2 screenshot. This is the main work area of JS2.

Top left: Jam mode controls, shuffle, global timing and transport.

Song sheet: Replaces the arranger of JS1. Each line is a 'part', much like the liveloops in JS1. You can control length, number of reps, repetition and transition fills, a trigger note for liveloop-style jamming and, of course, style and drummer for each part.

Bottom left: Timeline, shows all bars in order with content visualization.

Brain: Shows the controllable aspects of the currently playing style and drummer. Switching between groove, fill and accent shows applicable controls and also switches the bar editor at the bottom.

Bar Editor: Low-level access to the data generated by the 'brain'.

NOTE: THIS IS WORK IN PROGRESS!!

And here's the new MIDI controller mapper, which is replacing VST automation due to the sheer number of controllable functions and also the need for more flexibility. You can now link most main functions to any MIDI controller you like. You can also map style/drummer brain controls. What's more, you can map multiple functions to the same controller and also invert the data range for each function.

NOTE: THIS IS WORK IN PROGRESS!!

Interesting - the new sliders for controlling the Jam parameters are definitely an improvement - more self explanatory with the colour coding for "in the pocket" for example.

The song structure editor looks very useful and harks back to Notator if I'm not mistaken Wink

So many new things, like half-time, fine adjustment of swing degree - looks like everything the users on the forum ever wished for has made it into JS2. Can't wait to try it myself Smile

Okay - but where is the download button ? Very Happy
And I see parts - great !

There are two other points I've been thinking of:
Jamstix has a good bunch of fills, but I mostly use the snare based simpler fills, so more of those would be great or the possibility to do some kind of filtering like "ignore tom fills" or "only starting at 3".

I don't know, but maybe Jamstix needs more marketing activity. I think people are rather talking about EZDrummer for example, where here is the better concept.
Or do a cooperation with BFD Very Happy

Jamstix 2 has brand-new fill logic that gives you more flexibility and is also aligned with the style in use.

Jamstix 2 is an (almost) complete rewrite and has been developed with a focus towards future expansion possibilities, such as add-ons for percussion and bass as well as expandable AI. Once this new concept has proven itself in the market place and in industry reviews, we will put more coals on the marketing fire. Rayzoon is in the black, so we do not need to rush things...

errr... I really really love the current arranger. because it has a nice big window where it's easy to see the song's structure. is the area in the right bottom corner the miniature version of the old arranger?

The current arranger has several big disadvantages: it doesn't enforce structure, is too big and doesn't use space efficiently (only one cell out of 16 vertical ones can be active at any time). The new arranger is the 'song sheet' on the left. Once you use it yourself, you will see its advantages.

The right bottom is the 'bar editor', which does some of the work of the JS1 rhythm tab but provides more functionality since it is also a limb-centric step sequencer so you can do hand editing in it that was impossible in JS1 and required separate host MIDI editing.

thanks, zauni, for the additional information. I'll buy JS2 for sure and will see for myself how it long it takes to get used to the new arranger. I had to spend two weeks or so to figure out the current arranger in detail Wink

About the limb control, will it be possible to map left and right limbs to different keys? And what about rimshots? Addictive Drums for example a nice support for both left and right hits and rimshots.

Thanks.
