|
|
Hi
I have a simple question, but it's a bit of a conundrum. I am using Jamstix in SAVIHost, with a guitar (going through the Line-In) driving JS in live jam mode. I can hear my guitar and JS drums together, which is what I want to record. How do I record the two instruments together to a single stereo wav file?
I'm using n-Track (though it could be any recording software), and to record "what you hear" I need to select the Stereo Mix option in my soundcard's recording controls. The problem is that JS needs the Line-In input - i.e. it only wants to hear the guitar, but my recording program (n-Track) needs the Stereo Mix. If I select the Stereo Mix option then JS hears itself as well as the guitar.
Is there an easy way of doing this? One option is to record to an external device, but I'm trying to record all on the computer only.
Any help is appreciated.

Why do you use SAVI host and N-track at the same time.
Can“t N-track do it all, I mean host Jamstix AND your input signal? |

Hi Doc,
N can host JS, though I have had stability problems. But ignoring that, the problem still remains that JS needs a Line In signal, and N or other recording program needs the Stereo Mix signal. The problem is in doing both simultaneously somehow. The Windows soundcard mixer decides what is selected to be recorded for these apps, and only one signal can be selected at a time.
I've not done much recording recently, but I remember having it figured out a year or so ago though, using SAVIHost and N to record the live jam with both instruments. I have the wav files to prove it to myself, but I just can't remember how it was done..!
I guess I need a way of recording the soundcard's output, ie exactly what you can hear, regardless of what the Windows recording mixer has selected.
Cheers

| I've had some success - I downloaded Total Recorder, which seems to do what I want. It provides a seperate soundcard driver to create a virtual soundcard, where you can choose seperate input and output devices to the normal soundcard's options even thought there's only one real soundcard. |
