Shocked

I tried to download the demo pax of Jamstix and I'm told that I don't have enough RAM. This is a new computer with not too much stuff on it. I can't believe that all these people are buying new RAM just for Jamstix. What am I missing?

Also, while I'm at it, does Jamstix (if I can ever download it) work with Acoustica Mixcraft?

Jamstix is a VSTi 2 plugin so Mixcraft must support that standard for Jamstix to work in it, which I am not sure of. Look at the manual for Mixcraft for 'VSTi' to see if it supports it.

Concerning the RAM, what is the size of your RAM and when do you get the message, when downloading or when running jamstix_demo.exe?

Thanks for the response.

Mixcraft does allow Vst's (don't know about the "2" part). I have used things like Extra Boy, which is supposed to remove vocals from a track.

I'm not sure how much RAM I have. The message comes when I try to run jamstix_demo.exe.

How do I check RAM? How much RAM is needed for Jamstix? Again, I can't believe that everyone is going out buying RAM for Jamstix. My computer is less than a year old (Windows XP). Unless I got severely ripped off. Crying or Very sad

VST is different from VSTi. The former is a standard for audio effects (like EQs, reverbs etc.). VSTi stand for VST instruments and covers synthesizers, samplers etc.. Jamstix requires a host that fully supports the VSTi standard including song positioning info. If your manual doesn't cover VST instruments than your host is unlikely to support them.

The Jamstix demo installer requires 256MB of RAM.
Go to Start->Settings-Control Panel->System, where you will see your RAM listed. Let me know what it says there.

Thanks. Everything is moot now as Mixcraft does not support VSTi's at this time. I do have other programs, so I'll see if they support VST's. I also check the RAM when I get home.

I'll let you know.
