Hi all -

I'm new to Jamstix (and new to forums as well!) and facing a frustrating problem with this otherwise great (and getting better) programme. Hope you can help me out.

I'm running through Cubase VST32 with Jamstix running BFD Demo sounds and manually working out a rhythm by creating the bars in Rhythm Tab from ground up. As I create each, I save it and they are there to re-call. I laid out the whole song (Get Offa My Cloud - Stones) quite well enough, but over the days I've been changing each rhythm after listening over and over to the original.

Just now, for no apparent reason and no changes to Jamstix accent sliders and such (which are all set to zero) and no changes in BFD Demo, the simple repeating fill through the chorus made up of Kick and semi Hi-Hat, has thrown up irregularities - Cymabls in place of Hi-Hat, extra Cymbal hits, off-beats where they didn't exist etc. These irregular, unwanted bars are all different to each other. I highlight the offender and open the Rhythm Tab. I play it 'locked' and hear the irregularity but see no evidence of why the accent or different hit should be playing. Even sliders in Jam Tab are all the way to the left (though I'm not jamming). There is no other audio coming in to Jamstix either - I've muted the other tracks in Cubase.

I've tried deleting the offenders individually and in groups and replacing them with the correct Rhythm. Sometimes it takes (at which point I immediately save arrangement) and other times it doesn't. Sometimes those that have 'taken' to correction later 'go off' on replay.

I'm getting frustrated and beginning to worry now that despite demo-ing Jamstix before purchase and deciding it was 'good' with Cubase VST32, that maybe there are some incompatabilities.

Any VST32 users out there (and I know from postings that there are) experiencing the same glitches? Any SX users with the problem? Anything obvious that I'm missing?

Thanks for any pointers

That's not how it should be.

Save your arrangement to a FXB file (Save Bank in Cubase) and send it to support[at]rayzoon.com and I will check this out further.

Ralph-

Thanks for quick pick-up on this. However - I'm going to hold on sending you FXB just now 'cos on booting up 30 mins ago (first time since leaving Cubase n Jamstix with the glitches yesterday), I found I was able to continue repairing the arrangement and saving. I'm thinking then that any FXB I send u now will not show any problem. Am I right in that assumption?

What I will note however, is that on repairing the problem 'chorus' bars, I lost 2 of my 4 silent bars placed at the beginning and the 2nd bar of intro also started to miss out a Hi-Hat which was showing should be there in the Rhythm tab. I just closed Cubase down and re-opened and silent bars 1 & 2 re-appeared and bar 2 of intro started behaving again.

It seems that shutting Cubase/computer down, sheds off these nasties. What I need to do now is record this new arrangement to individual tracks in Cubase to replace my earlier attempts. If in doing so I notice the pattern 'go off' again, I will immediately save to FXB and forward to u.

In the meantime, I would like to say loud n clear to anyone out there with Cubase VST32, thinking of buying Jamstix and reading this post - don't be put off. This glitch I'm experiencing may well be exclusive to me and my setup or most likely something dumb that I'm doing. At least try the demo. You will be doing yourself a huge favour. This is drumming software unlike others and I'll be sticking with it whatever. The support u get from Ralph is unmatched and Version 2 is just round the corner.

I'll keep u informed Ralph. Cheers for now.

As a safety device, you may also opt to keep backup copies of your Jamstix arrangements by saving them to FXB files once in a while. You can then always recall a specific Jamstix state by simply loading a FXB file.
