We have just released Jamstix 1.81, which is somewhat of a hotfix for 1.8.
Here's the scoop: Jamstix 1.8 had an updated software license control system, which made it Vista compliant (for non-admin Vista acounts). This code is from a 3rd party so we have no control over it. Unfortunately, this code is slower than the old version. For some users it is only a second more to open the GUI, others have seen 20 seconds or more added.
Until we have a fix from our vendor, Jamstix 1.81 reverts to the old code to solve this problem. It also sports other modifications designed to improve GUI load time and responsiveness.
If you do run Vista with a non-admin account and get errors with Jamstix, contact us and we will send you the Vista version. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ralph,
I was justing getting raedy to email regarding the loading issue. I will install the 1.81 fix. Cubase crashed on exiting, load up was very slow with 1.80.
But in general the load up time as increased since you made the orginal changes. I preferred it when Jamstix did it's thing first. Seemed a much smoother load up.

Ok Ralph
The 1.81 update works fine so far. Load up was quick. Appears that in the host window (mixer) that has the audio plugin installed appears after jamstix does it's thing.

Hello, I had some problems with v1.81 (XP SP1); my current version is 1.71 and it works fine. Somehow I'm not able to install the update. When I start the update there is always the windows message box "jamstix_update.exe has caused a problem...send to microsoft" (or something like that). Maybe I should stay with 1.71 for now.
Is there a special reason why all updates until now have the version number in the file name but the 1.81 doesn't?

That's odd. I recommend you re-download the update file and try again. If it still happens, let me know and we go from there.
The naming convention is due to changes we've made in the distribution system. I know it's nicer to have the numbers on the exe and we'll try to get that back but for now you can just run it and see the version number on the welcome screen. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph, thanks for quick reply. I tried it two times with the same result. The file size was equal each time but I'll try it again to make sure that it's not the download. If it doesn't occur to other users it must be a special case with my system. I'll try to find it out.
For now its not a big problem since version 1.71 works fine.
