Version 0.99N is ancient history and of no use today Smile

If you experience any problems with the 1.8 demo, let me know and I'll help you get things sorted.

I recorded my guitar into Tracktion last night, with Jamstix all set up to jam along with me. It did, so I saved my edit. Listened back to it a few times and it was fine.

Today the jamstix drumming seems to have been lost - what did I do wrong?

Cheers

Can you elaborate a bit more? Did the arrangement get lost? Does Jamstix play differently or not at all?

Sorry, Jamstix doesn't play at all (well the odd beat here and there, but not what was the jamming along with my playing). I guess the arrangement did get lost - it's not there now anyway.

Did you record the audio that JS was playing with yesterday? You must feed that into JS on playback to get the same arrangement back.

How do I do that? Do you just mean was I recording at the time JS was jamming? In which case, yes I was. I got the JS arrangement along with the guitar part I was playing recorded and exported as an mp3 (tehy are both on the same mp3), but when I re-opened Tracktion, JS no longer had the arrangement stored. It played back OK before I shut the program down, which I thought meant that it was saved, but maybe not.

I'm very sure it's something I've done/not done, but being a newbie (and bit of a JS dunce!) I don't know what.

I appreciate the help!

Please load your project, open the Jamstix interface and then click 'Save' in the preset section in the middle bottom part of Tracktion. Choose 'Save As Bank File' and send me the resulting FXB file to support[at]rayzoon.com so I can check this out.

Thanks, that seems to have fixed it!!!!

Actually, I was just coming on to say that it seems to be there again now! It was clearly me being stupid, but I have no idea what I've done to get it back! I was just having a fiddle with manually making a rhythm, pressed play, and it was working! Now I think about it, the arrangement was there in the arrangement window, but it wasn't making a sound when 'playing' it - I haven't changed any settings, so I have no idea what is going on, except that I now feel very embarrassed Embarassed

Really sorry to bother you, I really must spend a lot more time playing with JS, so that I can use if properly. It is a wonderful piece of software, but clearly shouldn't be put into the hands of an idiot Rolling Eyes Sorry for wasting your time.

*goes off to bury head in embarrassment, taking JS manual with her*

No reason for apologies. Jamstix is pushing the boundaries as far as interacting with hosts in multiple ways and a certain resulting complexity is unavoidable.

We are working on ways to improve this in Jamstix 2.

Thanks! I've printed the manual and am going to read it - time I used JS properly. Looking forward to Jamstix 2.

I think I'm reading the instructions properly, but nothing at all is happening. I want to do a MIDI jam with a VSTI instrument. I can add Jamstix and get sound output from clicking freejam, but when I try to follow the instructions (point MIDI to track, add VSTI, add Jamstix, etc.), I don't get any sound out from my VSTI and I don't see that Jamstix is following my input in any case -- the lights don't light up properly, etc.

Can someone just please humor me and walk me through how to set up a basic jam with a VSTI? I can probably figure out the rest from there. Do I have to set up a rack and route a bunch of things?

Sorry. Very new to ALL of this.

Brian

In Tracktion you will need a rack but it's not hard to set up. Put your VSTi and Jamstix in the rack, route the MIDI input to both and the outputs as needed.

Indeed, it is fairly easy. So easy in fact that I went ahead and ordered the full thing. Here's hoping someone is checking the e-mail this weekend.

Great software.
