I almost have a GM2 to Jamstix mapping complete. All I need is to work up a spreadsheet and I'll send it along. What I was wondering: is it possible to change kits without the GM2 custom mapping changing. I could then scroll through the various kits while the midi file is playing. Thanks for any help dhbret

Unfortunately, that cannot be done at the moment. However, JS2 will be as GM2 compliant as possible.

Dhbret, thank you for your hard work. Thank you too Ralph. I think GM compatibility is vvery important because sometimes like myself, I use JS as a sound module, since the samples are really awsome. Also, having the ability to use other available midi patterns gives one a lot of flexibility when combined to what JS produces. I can't wait for JS2, I also hope that Ralph can someday make a complete GM module, just like the GM180 soundfont I am using. It really would add so much versatility to JS, since now one can mute the brain of JS.

Thanks Ralph for all your hard work. I truly hope your company continues to get blessed and prospered.

Ralph, do you think there is a possibility to somehow create a complete drumkit in JS using the sounds in the soundfont im using and just adding those into the current jamstix drumset?

What I mean is, you know how there are only a limited number of drum sounds in each JS drumkit, well in the soundfont that im using, which is called SGM180v1.5, well, I thought, could there be a way to add all those missing sounds and create a complete JS drumkit? This would be so awsome because then all my midi songs that were not created with JS would sound really awsome since JS sounds are more realistic. here is the link to the soundfont that i am using.

This can be done in JS today by using a MIDI track in the host to send the MDII output of Jamstix to a soundfont player (like sfz). You can then unload the sounds in JS that you don't need and likewise in the soundfont for those sounds that JS should play.

In JS2 it will be even easier because it allows you to mix internal sounds and subhosted plugin inside of JS.

I really wish to find out how to do this. Right now, I am using SFZ to play back the midi output of another midi file player I have called One man band, I got this to work within Ableton live, but I am trying to understand how I would be able to unload the sounds you mentioned within SFZ and have it play only the sounds that JS doesnt have. I really want to learn that. By the way, i am using the free version of SFZ and I dont see any facilities on there on how to do something like this. Thank you Ralph for all your support and ideas.

Unfortunately, Ableton Live cannot properly handle Jamstix MIDI output at this time.
