These are all copyrighted songs that I've just now gotten around to recording.

The thing is that I have no idea if they're good or not. All use Rayzoon. None have been mastered or anything so they'll sound much better later one would hope.

My last CD (first) "Drink The Beast With Me", got some good reviews and some bad ones.

Anyhow, before I plunk down another 3 large to get this thing mastered/pressed, tell me what you think of the songs. There are 7 so far.
I can't telll you what to say but I would appreciate it if folks could not just say "sounds like...(insert XTC here)"
(closes eyes...ducks)

I thought it was great. Your muse didn't disappear at all. You've got a highly developed (and very tasty) sense of harmonic progression.

Your voice has great tones and I like the setting and loose feel of the composition. Lyrics pull me through each song. The whole thing works. It's always immediately identifiable as you, yet each song is unique and maintains its own spell. Inspiration isn't lacking here.

Here's the flip side.

You need to hire talent for the keyboard parts. The songs are STRONG and they deserve to be treated better. Whoever is on there right now is certainly passable, I'm saying it's the next thing to do to get the most improvement.

For example, in the song Dumb Down (which, gaah, let me take a sec to say GREAT SONG MAN), when we finally arrive at the keyboard solo, it's ... passable.

And here's why I say this. If the songs are going to have these long taxis down the runway before and after takeoff, you need some muscle in there to make it compelling - make it time well spent.

Or if mercenary talent isn't an option, you could always shorten the songs (ducks!) to focus on your strength: that mello vocal feel going on over that spidey sense of harmonic composition.

Whatever maximizes the benefit to the listener for the moments he gives you.

Everything else is up there, the bass is NAILED, the guitar is fine, drums, jamstix, the vocals are signature.

Rx:
Either shorten arrangements or hire talent for the heavy lifting or... better yet ignore this and just know someone gave you some eartime and so pass it forward someday.

I like your songs, keep it up.

Great insight and prescient observations. Thank you for listening and I will certainly take your recommendations to heart. Should be easy. Plenty of keyboardists out there with Cubase and free time. We're all bozos on this bus.
