I encountered Jamstix over on KvR. When you first announced it I guess I sort of glossed over it and wasn't too interested. Silly me! With news of the demo I checked it out again (and with the tutorial videos, there is more to check out than before) and AM COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY. Shocked

A few things:

1) The videos are quite nice, but I still miss some old fashioned screen shots, and I bet users who are still on dial up would appreciate them too.

2) Are there any plans for more percussion instuments and patterns?

3) Can users make their own maps for modules other than BFD and DFHS? I know BFD has XFL and 8 Bit Kit, while DFHS has a new big brother on the way - is it the kit layouts or outputs that are affected by the presets?

4) Will there be a manual?

5) Can you tell us any more about the internal module? Is it all one kit, or are there variations?

I think Jamstix is going to be huge. I'm very excited for it. Best of luck! Cool

Hi Hewitt,

Duly noted. Screenshots will be added soon.

We are focusing on standard drumsets at the moment since we are actually emulating the 'thinking' of a drummer and new instruments require different thinking. However, the future may bring new modules: we are considering a jazz drummer and a percussionist. We also have solid plans for odd time signature support.

Concerning the patterns: the full version of Jamstix will come with more rhythms, accents, fills, intros and endings. We will also release new rhythm packs of these items as free downloads. Furthermore, since pattern editing is quite easy in Jamstix we are hoping for some community rhythm exchange.

Absolutely. Just go to the MAPPING tab, click EXTERNAL VSTi in the SOUNDS panel and select the DLL of your module. You will then see the config screen of your module. Use the MAPPING panel to map the right keys to the sounds of your module and then, when you're happy, just click SAVE and you can store the whole enchilada as a mapping. Next time you want to use it, just click LOAD and click your mapping file.

These mappings or presets store all the data from your module as well as the mapping settings in Jamstix.

Manual is included with the demo version. You should have a rayzoon folder in your Program Menu with a link to it. We will continue to enhance it for the full version and are also working on a PDF version.

The demo version has one kit with reduced layers. The full version will have the same kit but with all layers as well as a second kit.

Thanks for your reply... I've read some other threads and your replies and you're knocking it out of the park! You're going to do so well with this, I can't wait!

Peace,
Hewitt
