First off, I've been fooling with the demo for a few days now...I'm blown away..this is what I've been looking for for 20 years!

I just placed my order (WHERE'S MY KEY?!?! Mr. Green ) Just kidding, I know it's coming. In the meantime, I thought I'd ask a question about an issue I ran into last night.

Recording.....what's the best way to make it happen....let's say I'm doing a Free Jam with audio, and like what I'm hearing....can I record the jamstix data "on the fly" (and not record my audio that I'm playing) so I can come back, edit the jamstix file till it's where I want it and then lay down my stuff?

Any help appreciated....can't wait to get the full meal deal!

BTW...I also wanted to say the most compelling reason for me to spend the $ was this forum and seeing the response AND respect each post/poster receives...that's customer service IMO.

I look forward to buggin you guys to death over the coming weeks!

Greg

Welcome to the party Greg!

To answer your question, yes, depending on what host your using, you should be able to record your jam on the fly without recording what your playing. I do it all the time in "Reaper". I havent used many other sequencers, but I know Reaper allows you to arm a track and set to either; record input, record output, record midi, or DONT RECORD, and many others.... So basically, I think it just depends on what host your using.

When you say "record" into your sequencer I presume youre talking about recording the midi data ?
Jamstix will output the midi data to a midi track of your choice and if you select that track to record you will have it.
My problem...now that I have this midi track recorded, i want to modify it (in my cae I use cubase which has a drum editor to easily add and remove drum hits) but I can not seem to turn off the original jamstix sounds so that I now hear only the midi data I recorded and modified telling jamstix what to play ...
any help on this step of the drum recording aspect ?

Thanks

Good info guys...FWIW, I'm using Cubase SX....so if I understand correctly, I should arm the midi track that has JS as it's input, and NOT arm the audio track I'm playing live through...I'll try it this evening.

Greg: some hosts require you to do a 'bounce' or 'freeze' to get audio clips out of a VSti, other hosts (like REAPER), are more flexible. Once you get your full version running and you get to the recording point, tell us your host and we'll be able to help further.

Dispatcher: if you want to feed a MIDI stream into Jamstix for playback, set Jamstix to 'Manual Jam' with 'Play Input' and 'Mute Brain' checked.
