The old 'rhythm tab' will be gone. |
you mean we won't be able to program a rhythm from scratch?
uh oh, that's the way i primarily use jamsix now. i guess i'll have to wait until it's in js2 to move over. |

The cool thing is that you can then send the output of the 'rhythm tab' into the drummer model and have it altered there and can then still change things via the bar editor that you can't do in the 'rhythm tab'. |
+1
This is the first time I am reading this thread - but just the other night I was thinking that a great way to market Jamstix (and display the underlying capabilities) is to have presets which tie in to particular drum heros the same way that Line 6 marketed the Vetta\Pod by creating presets based on particular guitar heros (in a non-infringing way, of course). |

My dream would be to click in a basic rhythm in a step sequencer mode and then have Jamstix go with it. I think that is what is in mind.

Politicat: don't worry you will have great editing capabilities, I should not have started this by releasing screenshots....
Stringer: yes, that is possible in Jamstix 2
The basic flow (very simplified) in Jamstix 1 is this:
Brain->Rhythm Tab->Output
In Jamstix 2 it is:
Style->Drummer->Bar Editor->Output
The 'Rhythm Tab' in this model is just a possible 'style', likely called "Jamstix 1", leading to a flow like this:
Rhythm Tab->Drummer->Bar Editor->Output
And you can also do two other flows that are interesting in Jamstix 2.
You can use a MIDI drum clip as a style so it turns into:
Drum MIDI Clip->Drummer->Bar Editor->Output
and you can save the output of a JS2 pattern as a MIDI clip, which you can then feed back as a style. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Yes, you can edit it like that in the bar editor

Like JS1, JS2 will have up to 17 stereo outputs with the first 4 having compressor (and EQ in JS2). _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Well I for one vote for more screenshots...the progress looks fantastic and I am really looking forward to the new version...any possibility of releasing a public beta (or private just for me... )

What I am wondering, and I don't expect you to give away any trade secrets here, but how do you go about coding the personal style of a drummer? Do you come up with a list of situations and behaviors and then listen to a lot of records, and check boxes on your list? Or do you set up an electronic kit and play along with the records and the analyze the midi data? Or analyze audio files somehow?
Looking at that list made me curious.

Forgive me but that is the heart of the new JS2 engine and does involve trade secrets. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Hi. I have a Question about JS2. Would there be any possibility to make a own "Drummer-Model"? I think, this would be a nice feature for all Drummers here . |

Yes, this is being considered. It won't be in the initial JS2 release but is very likely to become available down the road. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
