Is it possible to use jamstix in Sonar 6, sending jamstix' MIDI output to an external DXi/VSTi (that is not subhosted in jamstix), without having to use DirectiXer?

Sonar 6 is supposed to be able to handle VSTis with MIDI outputs such as jamstix, but I couldn't get it working. I enabled jamstix' MIDI output in the Sonar Synth Rack and set the input of a MIDI track to it. Pressing record, no notes were recorded. (Using the DirectiXer loopback, however, I could record the MIDI data.) Has anyone got this working?

cheers!

Please try the latest Beta available here:

It has a fix for a similar problem in REAPER. Let me know if this fixes it.

Using the beta didn't solve the problem.

We're still waiting for our copy of S6 so unfortunately I can't research this at this time.

i'm sure sonar 6 has a midi out option now, so you might not need diretxier. they have added a lot of new features in sonar 6 as it is now vst native ( no wrapper)

ye you can do this in sonar 6,
when you open jamstix in the synth rack on the left hand side of the instruments rack you'll see a blue [ shaped symbol. right click and you will get an option to enable midi out.
good luck

Opcode, we now have our S6 and I've checked this out. Recording of Jamstix MIDI output with the latest Beta is working fine for me. If you have DirectiXer, make sure you don't get confused on which Jamstix you are loading in S6. You can have both, DX-wrapped and S6-wrapped Jamstix in the menu and if you use the DX_wrapped, S6 will give you the 'Enabled MIDI output' but it will not work. You must use the S6-wrapped version.

Turns out I was indeed using the wrong jamstix, i.e. the DX-wrapped version. I didn't even realize there was more than one.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to check this out. Your support is really second to none.

cheers!
