| hey, maybe this is a dumb question, but I've been trying for a long time and could not come up with the solution-- I find that I cannot control the volume input into cubase from the midi channel in the mixer--the only way i can adjust the volume is via the gain in the output tab in jamstix--when i try to adjust the volume slider of the corresponding midi channel in the mixer, nothing happens! Is this the way it's supposed to be? |

Thanks for the catch! We will have this fixed in the next update. We didn't notice because we usually use volume envelopes on the audio outputs rather than CC#7 envelopes on the MIDI track. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Sammy, we will have CC7 control in an update but not in the 1.02E today because we have no time left. However, you can use the MIDI-automated Gain parameter to control volume in the MIDI track to achieve the same effect. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I assume by gain parameter u mean the one listed within the compression effect-- it doesn't seem to do anything either--in fact I can't seem to control anything from the midi channel-- also, I tried the following setup:
I played the midi info from jamstix using BFD (meaning, I didn't load BFD thru Jamstix as an external drum module but rather loaded bfd into cubase and routed the jamstix track thru BFD with jamstix as the midi input and BFD as the output) and I found that in "BFD all" or "BFD Groups" I could not control any of the levels (overhead, room, etc.) from the assigned channels in the mixer.
Also-- when loading BFD thru jamstix (loading it as an external drum module) I can't seem to use the "configure" properly-- I need to hear how it sounds in order to know what parameters to adjust, but when i press play, the configure vst window minimizes, and if i try to open it, it takes a couple of clicks, and when it comes up it makes a disturbing noise as it does so, and makes the same noise if i close it up again--also, i get clicks/pops if i change the microphone configuration while it's playing (maybe just because my system cannot handle so many things at once)
sorry about this long post--u give awesome support, and i just want to be clear on what issues im trying to deal with-- |

Since MIDI automation doesn't work for you in Jamstix nor in BFD you may have a Cubase or usage problem here.
Also, since BFD is outside of Jamstix, changing the Gain parameter won't have any effect on BFD since the BFD output doesn't go through Jamstix.
If you need to adjust BFD volume you'll have to use BFD automation in its own track. If you need to adjust velocity, do this:
- add Jamstix as VSTi
- open Jamstix "track" in the project window so you can see the parameters
- draw an envelope in the track for "Velocity"
Now as you play, you should see the velocity slider in Jamstix adjust to your envelope and BFD sounds react accordingly. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| ok--thanks a lot--- what about the configure issue? ( btw, stay on top didn't seem to accomplish anything for me)-- the truth is, if the bfd window would just stay open when i press play, it would solve a lot of the problems, because then i could open the window before it starts playing and not require the computer to do so many things at once |

Cubase and the Jamstix GUI do not work well in 'Stay-On-Top' mode. Make sure you have the Jamstix GUI itself not in 'Stay-On-Top' mode. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
