Hi

Would anyone care to explain which steps are needed to get this to work?

I'm demoing Jamxstix and considering to buy it, as I dig the idea a lot.

Prob is, that I haven't been able to get output from RMIV. I use Cubase SL2.

I thought I had done the right things:

Loading the RMIV.dll
Setting Jamstix as input and RMIV as output in a Cubase midi track. No joy.

Also, I'd like to know if you're having any luck with Stylus RMX.

thank you in advance!

We have several users on the forum that user RMIV and Stylus RMX, hopefully some will chime in.

Remember that the Jamstix demo has its MIDI output limited to bars 1 through 4. After that it will fall silent. Alternatively, you can load RMIV into the Jamstix demo using the the 'External VSTi' button in the mapping tab and you won't have the 4 bar limit then.

thank you for the heads-up, Ralph.

I have been reading the manual more in depth, and I found out that I need to increase the the number of Jamstix outputs, so they match say RMIV or Stylus. BUT.....I can't see how to do this. The manual states, that you do this in the Mapping Tab; the picture in the manual showes slides that allow to do that, but for the life of mine I can't see any in my host (Cubase SL 2.2).

I really hope to sort it out soon, Jamstix is sooo cool!

I'm not familiar with SL but in SX you're best of removing Jamstix and then adding it back in so Cubase assigns the new, correct # of outputs. So, change the # of outputs in the Jamstix mapping tab, then remove JS and add it back in and you should see the additional outputs.

I got it to work with RMIV, beautiful! I'll place an order soon. Only, I expected the acoustic sets in RMIV would make Jamstix shine even more, but actually I may as well dismiss RMIV all together.

On a different note: the tip about unloading Jamstix and loading it again did the trick, the right amount of outputs showed up in Cubase. BUT....Cubase crashes after I've loaded "Stylus.dll". I guess it has to be a problem specific to Cubase SX/SL 2?

It should work fine. Did you try driving Stylus via MIDI output in bars 1 through 4 like this?:

- load Jamstix into Cubase
- load Stylus into Cubase
- add MIDI track with input=Jamstix output=Stylus
- set Jamstix to 'Free Jam'
- hit Play in Cubase on bar 1

You should hear Jamstix playing Stylus in bars 2,3 and 4.

Hi again

I am not sure I remembered to rewind to bar 1, but I think i followed the other steps. I'll give it another try and report what happens. Actually the freezing and subsequent crash took place after I switched from "multi" to "kit mode in Stylus.

It's very nice indeed that it's working with RMIV. I'll try as well Halion as output, since I have a few nice kits in that format too.
