Not upgraded to 1.7 yet... But anyway..
In the output tab, what do shaping and stereo width do? Thanks! |

Stereo width controls the.......stereo width of the audio output:) That way you can get a narrower sound when needed without losing the ambience signal.
Shaping basically moves the ambience signal closer to the close mic signal time-wise so it appears as if the room is smaller and the amb mics are closer to the drum. The result is a coloring of the signal and reduction of the perceived room size. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks for that! Ambience is really making this come alive! So many options I still haven't expored. Truly awesome (and I still have to get the latest upload! Anything major new?)
Here's another question...
I created my own fill (but saved as a rhtyhm...don't know if you can save 'fills' as such)...
But anway, it's just a kick and cybal, and that's it! It goes off every 6 bars for a quiet section in a song. Thing is... After it goes off once, jamstix seems to put in another one the very next bar, which does not work for the song. Some sort of automatic fill?
The fill frequency is set to manual on the jam tab...
I still can't praise jamsrix enough! I was thinking of getting DKFH2 for extra sounds, but there's already enough in this baby. Thinking of getting the 'beats' (?) package also. Good value for money! |

| D'oh. After writing this, I think I MAY have the solution. The velocity is always set to max! Maybe turning it down during the quiet sections will help!! |

You definitely want the 1.7 update. It reduces CPU usage and improves the ambience control functions among many other things.

This could be the rhythm change crash. Uncheck the box 'Change Crash'
in the cymbal panel (rhythm tab) of the rhythms involved. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Wouldn't that mean I have to permanantly change that rhythm? uess I could save it as a new one..
Anyway..
- When choosing different kits, there're full and quick preview buttons... but these don't seem to do anything!
- Can you mix and match bits of kits yourself?
Thanks!
(After all these months, I'm still finding out new things!)
Oh, and I'll defo upgrade soon... My CPU usage is getting quite high.. |

No, it just takes out crashes on rhythm changes, which is likely what you are hearing.

Make sure you have JS playing something, then click Quick Preview and then click a kit.

Yes, you can manually assign sounds from different kits in the mapping tab. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Aha! That preview will save me a lot of time, thanks!
Oh, I forgot about the pull-down menu at the bottom in the mappings tab! This is excellent...Now I can create my custom kit
I was just moving around the slider in the mapping tab right above the big velocity window.. Seems to be some sort of volume control!
Thanks, Zauni! |

No, that slider is just there to control the velocity of the 'Audit' button. The slider does not affect the kit. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

One last question (sorry! )
I'm trying to get chimes at particular points in a song. In the percussion tab, I've got auto-chimes on, and I've got the velocity slider for chimes up full on the track. The veloity at this point in the song only goes high every 5-6 bars. I'm not hearing any chomes...any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
P.S. Same goes for anything like that...drumsticks etc...
EDIT:
I'm also using an aggresive character. This is GREAT, but there seems to be a lot of splashes...actually, I think it's high-hats...any way to cut these down a bit? Not the volume...just less frequency...

Auto-chimes produces chimes after fills only.
If you need chimes at a specific point in your song, you need to add them to your Jamstix MIDI track manually.
This will get easier in JS2 where you can add them manually in JS2 itself. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
