Hi support,
I am a bit puzzled by the Jamstix Arranger while running within Cubase. I have set Jamstix in Manual Mode using 1 rhythm with a fill frequency of 8 bars. I have set the locators in Cubase from bar 1 to 9, e.g. 8 bars looped and I have set the start bar in Jamstix to be bar 1 beat 1.
Now when the internal locator in Jamstix is set to the first beat of bar 1 and hit play while the Cubase Locator starts from bar 1 beat 1 it 'skips' bar 1. Well it plays it correctly but the color of the bar doesn't change from red to pink. Furthermore it plays nicely all the way to bar 8 and while returning to bar 1 (as it is looped) it adds an unplayed fill in the arranger on bar 9. The second time it passes the first bar it does change from red to pink, but it still wont add and play a fill at bar 8, but still shows bar 9 as a fill.
When you do the same trick, but now setting the internal locator (not the start bar) to another bar then the first one, it correctly changes the first bar from red to pink while going over it for the first time. It still adds an unplayed fill at bar 9.
When putting the arranger start bar of Jamstix to bar 0 it shows the same behaviour, but now putting the fill on bar 8 while turning bar 9 from red to pink.
Is it indended like this?

Well, aside from the pink/red issues which are actually cosmetic in nature, what is actually happening that you'd consider wrong as far as output is concerned? If start bar in JS is 1 then fills will be placed at 1+freq intervals, so bar 9 makes sense (1+8 ) and if it is 0 then it should be 8(0+8 ). _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Maybe wrong is too big of a word for it. I was thinking more along musical lines and expected it to behave according to a fill at bar 8 starting from bar 1. So internally Jamstix substracts the startbar with 1 and then adds 8 bars to it for the next fill, e.g. you start at beat 1 of bar 1 (as Cubase is doing) and get a fill at bar 8.
Now that I know this I will set the default start bar at 0 and not at 1.
As allways, thanks very much for the info and quick reply,

Ah, okay, I get it now. This will become more intuitive in the Jamstix 2 arranger as it is section-based. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
