Hi Ralph,
it's been about 3 weeks since I bought JS and I'm still discovering new cool things.
However there are 2 things I'd like to ask
1) How can I use the JS transport controls. Seems like no matter if I click on the bar number in the arrangement tab or using the arrows the playhead remains at its current position. I think I tried all the combinations (JS started/stopped, host started/stopped) with no luck (I must be missing something here or my host is too snob regarding its trasport functioning )
2) Suppose you set the fill frequency at 8 bars; you end-up with fills at bar 8, 16 etc. Now if I have an intro at bar 1 or an empty 1st bar (muted in the arrangment) fills keep on appearing on bars 8, 16 etc. Wouldn't it be more reasonable for them to be shifted one bar to the right (9, 17 etc) given that the song starts at the 2nd bar? Is there a way to make it behave this way. My current workaround is to start at bar 9 and use bar 8 for the intro.
Did I say 2 questions? Make it 3
3) I noticed that sometimes when muted bars are playing I hear some unexpected kick+crash hits (I had all accents bars at zero)
Using JS 1.7 and Tracktion 2.1 on WinXP pro
Thanx in advance

Very odd. I've checked it in T2.1 and as long as Tracktion is stopped I can use the arrow buttons or click in the arrangement bar numbers as needed.

We're making this easier in JS2 with a section-based arranger.

Can you duplicate this in a specific project at a specific bar reliably or is it random? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

#1 don't know Ralph, I'll check again cause it's a very useful feature that I'm currently missing. Some obscure setting in Tracktion maybe? Do you know that this works fine with other people with T?
#2 that's good to know
#3 I didn't kept that edit cause I was simply playing with JS but I think that it was consistent. will check again and send you the fxb or a Tracktion archive
Thanx Ralph |

It works fine here on 2 T2 machines and we haven't had any other reports of this issue. You could try changing your ASIO driver. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I tried changing drivers as you suggested. I tried every setting in T I could think of but no luck. I tried it in T1.6 the same. I'm gonna try the latest build now
I also made a post in RMS forum @KVR.
If I find something i'll report here. In the meantime if some kind Tractioneer has any other ideas I'd be glad to hear them.
Thanx |

Please see if toggling 'Time Sig Changes' in the output tab makes any difference. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hey Ralph, when I said "playhead" in my initial post I meant Tracktion's playhead. I thought that JS trasport control can affect Tracktion's playhead i.e. if I go to bar 30 with JS arranger/trasport Tracktion will play from bar 30 (and not from where it's been stopped before).
If I missunderstood something here, and JS transport is only for navigation/editing in the arranger, you can forget about my question but the manual implies that JS controls can be used instead of host's controls.
Please clarify this.
Thanx
Nikos
PS If it's not meant to work the way I thought, it'd be great if it did (not sure if the VST specs allow for something like that though) |

Ah, so it's just a misunderstanding!
No, a VST plugin has NO WAY of changing the song position of the host. The JS transport allows you to work in the arrangement without using host controls or in hosts that don't have them (i.e. MiniHost). _________________ Ralph Zeuner

OK so I'm not missing something here
Thanx for the clarification Ralph.
I see that this is impossible but being able to "play" the arrangment from whatever position (with host stopped, OK) that'd be a nice addition (or not )
Anyway, thanx again. |
