|
|
Hi Mr. Zeuner (and all),
I bought Jamstix a couple months ago and have been as delighted with it as everyone else. A fantastic product.
Please forgive me if this subject has been treated before. I searched the forum and couldn't find any info on the idea, but it can be stated a variety of ways so I may have missed the appropriate thread.
I love the kit provided with Jamstix, but often I find myself thinking that I would LOVE to be able to fly in a layered kick or snare of my own creation. Unfortunately the samples in Jamstix seem to be proprietary, so a quick DIY hack doesn't seem possible. Must this be the case? Is there any way I can create samples in this format so that Jamstix can see them?
It seems a bit clumsy to have to set up an external VSTi in order to set up an alternative kick or snare with the rest of the Jamstix kit -- perhaps I'm missing something?
Any suggestions?
Thanks again for a great product.
Cheers,
Seth |

Get jamstix to play through a sampler - Kontakt, Battery, etc...

Thanks for the suggestion, Andrew.
Well I have tried a variety of "external" VSTi solutions, but all of those routes wound up seeming rather klunky and inelegant. Creating sample sets and maps (not to mention taking the CPU hit) for a third party plug just seems kind of kooky -- bring in a whole different app just to drop in three or four samples? Hmm!
I don't know, it seems like the ability to do this would expand the flexibility of Jamstix rather nicely, but maybe it's just me. Wouldn't be the first time!
Cheers.

I don't know, but maybe it might work with Drumagog via its midi in. Actually triggering the replacement of it's samples with yours used in Drumagog
?
Check it out and see m8

We are considering adding an import function but this is unlikely to happen until Jamstix 2 next year. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| I too would love to see a quick sample import for when I just want to change one or two drum sounds. |

I'd be very interested in how you would set up to allow Jamstix to go thru Drumagog (as per your suggestion) -- I use Cubase and don't see how this can happen

This I am greatly anticipating!
I've been using JamStix more as a sound module for my edrums, and having a way to load in various cymbal and drum samples of my own would be fantastic!
That, an a overhaul on the interface would be nice as mentioned in another thread. |

I haven't a clue off-hand m8, sorry.
Therefore, I'd track the Jamstix performance to separate audio tracks (kick, snare, etc...), then use drumagog to do the replacement for each (used as a plugin on whichever tracks require it).

works great -- simply route the drum to be replaced to one of the external channels, add a Drumagog VST to that channel and off ya go |
