Hi Ralph,

I have been using the recent betas (haven't installed the RC yet, just downloading). I notice that when I am running in Keyword Jam the automatically selected fills are full of loud semi open hats in the early part of the bar.

I can go in an edit each fill in the arrangement to "no hats" or whatever but this is not something I have really noticed before so I am wondering if there is some setting I have changed or whether something is different in Jamstix with regards to hats and fills.

I would like to be able to turn them (hats) off as a preference if possible.

Regards,
Phil

The fill hat mode is currently randomly selected so some fills will have semi hats, some will have normal hats and some will have suppressed hats.

We'll add an ini parameter to the next Beta that allows you to force one of these modes as default for all fills. This won't make it into 1.7 though....

Ralph,
I have downloaded 1.7. Can you tell me if time signature changes should work alright in Cubase VST 5/32 - I seem to be having a problem:-

Piece in 3/4 for 141 bars then 44 from bar 141 onwards.

Jamstix starts off in 3/4 then switches to 4/4 at bar 16!
I have checked the box in the output panel to allow for time sig. changes.

thanks
Ian

Not sure about VST5. Did this specific project work fine prior to the 1.7 update?

When I look at fills just created (by setting auto fill to 8 bars say) they have "Auto Hats" - in my arrangement for a recent tune, when I opened the fills they all said "semi hats". I could manually edit them but I am puzzled as to why semi hats were chosen by JS.

This was in Keyword Jam with the Late Kicks set of grooves- it this possibly a reflection of the position of the level slider (JS was set to follow midi with no midi signal coming in and the level slider was probably right up near the max) - so perhaps loud variations on the fills were being selected automatically - as if to to match "loud" music.

On fills: most that I hear/see musical notation for have no hats - they have crash cymbals maybe but are mostly snare, kick, and toms only. When the hats are more muted this is no problem.

Perhaps the semi hats I am hearing (usually I hear 4 loudish hat hits in a row in the first beat(s) of the bar) is a kind of continuation of the groove before the fill gets going properly in the later part of the bar.

What about having another checkbox "Suppress hats in fills" in the set where you have "Suppress fill till beat 3" etc ?

Regards,
Phil

Hi Ralph,
Just tried to download 1.7 RC, but my password is not accepted. I've got a folder full of updates up to 1.7 beta 11, and not had this problem before Confused

'EDIT'
Never mind, tried a different browser (IE) and it worked. It worked using Maxthon before, don't know what went wrong this time.

PhilFee: The Jamstix brain gets complex, especially in the fills. Please take an 'offending' fill and manually set its hat mode to 'No hats'. Does that help? This will clarify the function for me.

greenstratman: When the 'another dir' box comes up and you click 'No', doies the update continue or what does it do?

fulvia: please try this: click 'Clear All' in the arranger and erase the whole arrangement (includes internal time sig markers). Now play the project from Bar 1 and let it play sequentially through the song. Watch the Jamstix bar/beat counter and tell me if it still messes up on Bar 16.

It didn;t solve it at all at first. Then, I set the time sig change to come in at bar 150 and it worked fine. Set time sig change back to where it should have been (bar 141) and all is ok!!!
thanks

Jamstix 1.7 is now officially released. If you are using the 1.7RC or a beta, please update to this finalized version.
