|
|
Hi,
I have Jamstix running in Manual Jam mode within Cubase and playing an arrangement with 2 rhythms. The arrangement and both rhythms are defined within Jamstix. Everything starts on first beat of the first bar.
When I start Cubase Jamstix always skips playing the very first note, which happens to be a kick. After the first note, everything is fine. I tried lowering the latency, changing the start position of the song to bar 2, doing a pre-roll, but I always miss the very first note.
Am I missing a setting?
EDIT: interestingly, I'm also missing this note when I do an export audio from Cubase.

Try using the latest Jamstix 1.7 Beta 11 and make sure 'Time Sig Changes' in the output is UNchecked.
If it still happens, insert a bar of silence in Cubase and the JS arrangement so everything starts at bar 2. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Found it. I created a new empty project with a new Jamstix module in it. Then I created a kick on beat 1 and beat 3 and let Jamstix run. No problem, it hits the kick on beat 1 of bar 1 when running cubase.
But when adding a kick on the first 16th Before beat of that rhythm it will skip the very first kick on beat 1 most of the time when starting Cubase.
Should it work like this and do I need to change my patern, or should it ignore the very first 16th before kick?
EDIT: This behaviour is very inconsistent I noticed.
By the way: I'm using the beta 11. |

Maybe I was a bit too early with my conclusion that it is because of the 16th note, it appears to be very random, and it also happen without the 16th note, but less frequent it seems, though I might be imagining this.
This is with the new clean test project. With my song it happens almost every time I hit start. In my song I have connected Jamstix to Battery, maybe there is an issue. |

With a clean Cubase project Jamstix sometimes skips the first note when it creates the beats internally, but it is not that frequent and very random, maybe once every 5 to 10 times when I start Cubase SL 2. But if I have a midi track with just one note on the first beat of the first bar, then Jamstix will always play this note, even after 50 restarts. But remove the track and let Jamstix play the note, it shows this inconsistent behaviour. I hadn't noticed it before, but maybe I had this behaviour from the beginning. Maybe it is something Cubase internal, or is it my new firewire soundcard Focurite Saffire LE, though it is weird that it not happens when Jamstix receives the first note via midi. Computers....
EDIT: With start I mean hit play in cubase from bar 1. |

When you play complete rhythms, is it ALL the instruments that are missing on beat 1 from time to time?
If it´s only the kick (or some other single instrument) that´s "missing" from time to time it could be as well Jamstix alterating the Pattern just a bit.
Or am I missing something? |

Bumping this topic as I regularly experience in my recorded jams the missing of the very first midi note of all jamstix instruments. Maybe it has something to do with my particular setup/drivers, though it is odd that this only happens with the Jamstix midi notes.
