First post hear, just running the demo through the ropes before I paypal. I am running SX1.06 and Battery 1 with all current updates loaded with DFH.

Last night I was trying to midi out to Battery without routing inside of Jamstix. I inserted a midi track, set the in to Jamstix and out to Battery. I set Jamstix to send midi. I could not get it to work. Battery was not receiving any midi input. I'm sure I am missing something here.

The MIDI out on the demo is limited to bars 1 through 4. If you set the transport in Cubase to bar 1 and play you should hear drums for 4 bars.

Here are the minimal steps:

- Load Jamstix, go to jam tab and click 'Free Jam'
- Load Battery separately and load something in GM layout to keep things simple.
- Add MIDI track with Jamstix as input and Battery as output

Let me know if you have any further problems!

Yes, bars 1-4. A couple of interesting things.
1. When I loop bars 1-4 in my sequencer, the demo does not have silence inserted, but I do hear that girl saying jamstix.
2. When I press start in my host (SX) it takes 1 bar for Jamstix to get its act together, meaning it starts out sloppy, then locks. My system below:

P4 2.4
512 meg PC2100
Asus P4B533
Matrox G550
WinXP pro
SX 1.06
Battery 1.01 w/DFH1
Kompakt

BTW, it's about time someone developed something like this. There was a big hole in the market. I thought Groove agent was a decent, yet not very flexible attempt.

Do you have Jamstix 1.02? We introduced tighter timing for most hosts with 1.01C.

Yes, 1.02 demo. I should also note that I have midi out only checked and when SX starts, Jamstix continues to load its internal sounds as well.

We'll look into the timing isue. Could you send an example Cubase project to support@rayzoon.com?

As far as the sample load goes: the default mapping of Jamstix uses the internal sounds. You can change that by loading Jamstix with the default mapping, clicking the R next to the sample select box in the mapping tab, which will unload all samples and then saving the mapping as 'default' (overwriting the existing one). After that, next time Jamstix starts you should not see any samples getting loaded.

If you ever want to use the internal kits just load the desired mapping.

Are you trying to send an EXE or other executable format?

File resides on my server:
www.precisionguitarworks.com/midi_timing.zip

Must have SX 1.06 Battery 1.01 and DFH1 to load.

Thank you for looking into this.

Got your example file and the synch is tight for me. Now, is it only the first bar that gives you problems when you press PLAY or does it happen every time Cubase goes back to the loop start?

Jamstix does need a few beats to synch up if the host starts the first time or if the song was stopped, the position changed and then restarted but once it plays it should stay tight even after a "loop jump".

It only stumbles on start. After the first bar, sync is tight, even through the loop as you described. I know when I used G agent, it did the same, but sync was much more unpredictable.

So this is normal, and that is fine.

Did you notice my home brewed GM .kit for Battery1 and DFH1? It is a work in progress. A painfull one Smile

Thank you for checking the file.

I received them and many thanks!

Haven't been able to mess with them, yet. It's very busy here with the 1.02E release and tech support...
