I just downloaded the demo for jamstix and I was wondering how to get it to play along with my midi keyboard while i play. I install it into its default directory and then go into fruity loops channel--> add one... add my piano vst in (which i control via my midi keyboard) and add the jamstix demo through channel -> add one... i set the jamstix to freejam.. i dont know if im doing this right? Can someone guide me through the steps. Thanks a lot |

I'm not familiar enough with FLS but you need to find a way to have the MIDI input (your keyboard) going to both, Jamstix and your piano VSTi, at the same time. In other hosts it is usually called 'Monitoring' or 'Echo'. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

So far I haven't tried jamming along to a midi signal, but it might work by using Layers to group your VSTis and send the midi signal to the layer (see the "Using Layers..." Video tutorial on the FLStudio site).
In case you want to try out the audio jam, just add AudioM8 to your audio signal (by using the mixer).
Anyways, I'm going to try it out once I'm home. |

| nevermind i figured it out.. i can get my midi keyboard to play a vst instrument which is detected by jamstix as audio..but now the problem is that when it plays it doesnt sound on beat... if my volume lowers on the piano tune the drum beat lowers and if it gets loud so do the drums.. but it isnt following the tune properly. |

Jamstix is always synched to the host, not the implied beat and timing of your audio signal. If you play in time with FLS, you will be in time with Jamstix. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ok, I tried it out the last night.
You have to create a layer, add your synth and jamstix to it and send the midi input to the layer instance.
Unfortunately it crashed FLStudio every time, with my soundcard (Line6 Guitarport) producing noise until I resetted the device by pulling the USB cable.
So far I can't figure out what's going wrong. It may be a bug in the soundcard driver, it may be a bug in the latest FL Studio beta version, or perhaps something with the latest Jamstix Beta. Perhaps I'll reinstall the latest stable versions tonight and check it out once more. |
