Hi,
I'm interested in your product. I was hoping to take advantage of the summer savings offer. I downloaded the demo last week and have been pulling it into Reaper. I have been successful in pulling Jamstix into a track. I set it to Free Jam. I set it to use audio input (I have no midi connected). I arm the track and begin recording. Jamstix starts playing some stuff, but the horizontal slider bar that is supposed to react to my playing is not moving. I am not seeing a light come on that shows a signal is being received by Jamstix. I've tried to figure out why no signal is being received by Jamstix, but I have been unsuccessful thus far.

I'm using a Pod XT Live with USB going into the computer. I'm using the ASIO4ALL and my POD is set as the input and output audio device. I have no trouble recording with it in Reaper. I've tried adding the M8 Audio VSTi to the track as well. The needle only moves in reaction to the drums from Jamstix. It does not react to my guitar.

Please let me know if there is something I can do to rectify this. I really want this to work.

The other things that may be of interest to you. I'm running this on a Dell M60 laptop. 1.7ghz with 2 gig Ram and Windows XP Pro. It's my company-provided laptop. I've tried to fix the DEP but all of that is grayed out since I'm not an I.T. admin. Everything else works fine except this so I'm hoping it's not a DEP problem.

Thanks,
Tele

Im not very familiar with Reaper but try this:

- add an audio track
- click the fx icon on the track and add Jamstix
- set Jamstix to 'Free Jam' and click 'Jam With Audio' at the bottom of Jamstix

Play/Record Reaper and Jamstix should now have its velocity slider follow the volume of the audio track. You may need to use the trim knob or ithe input velocity map to fine-tune the slider response.

By the way, you can also use Jamstix without any input and control velocity via an automation envelope.

I have done what you said. The problem is, the velocity slider in Jamstix does not follow the volume of the audio track. In fact, the slider just stays at the very left end (like it is getting no input from my instrument). The middle light next to "Jam with Audio" does not light up. I'll try to use the trim knob or the input velocity map to fine-tune the slider response if I can figure out where they are. Could something be muted somewhere that is keeping Jamstix from receiving audio input from my instrument?

Thanks so much for getting back with me so quickly.

That means that Jamstix is not seeing any audio. What ASIO driver are you using? Also, you are using an audio track and not a MIDI track, right?

Did you check the little speaker icon to the left of the volume display in the Reaper track so it is not crossed through?

You mean so the track is not muted? The track was not muted. Help me understand if I'm using this correctly. I take new project and insert a track. There is nothing on the track. I click the fx icon and add Jamstix. Jamstix opens and I select Free Jam. I also click Jam with Audio.

Next, I arm the track by clicking the red dot in the left end of the track to record. Next, I click the red record button in the transports at the bottom of the screen. The track starts moving along. Drum sounds come from Jamstix. I start playing my instrument in time with Jamstix. I play softly, next I play loudly. Jamstix is not following my dynamics like it does in the video. I can hear both my guitar and Jamstix in my monitors. The VU meters in Reaper show that my guitar audio is being received by Reaper. It's just Jamstix that is not hearing me.

I think it would be a very useful tool for me as I'm not a drummer. The one thing I dislike about recording is figuring out the drum parts. That's why Jamstix is so interesting to me. I hope we can figure this out.

I have a nice couple of desktop computers in my music/computer room of my house, but my wife and teenage kids have taken it over. I find it much easier to just record from my desk in my bedroom using my laptop. I will try loading everything on one of those desktop computers and see if the problem goes away. I'll post the results later.

Thank you so much,
Mike aka Tele

Here's a picture of what I mean:
The white arrow shows the icon that needs to be NOT crossed through

When I first opened Reaper, that little speaker wasn't there. BTW, that is not the "Mute Track" icon that I was thinking of earlier. Once I opened up Jamstix, that little speaker showed up....and guess what! It was X'd out. I un-X'd it and now Jamstix is getting a signal. I'm still having to play with it to get it to react like I want it to, but at least it is still working.

Now for question two...will I still be able to get the sale price if I need a couple more days to see if I can get it to work out for me? It looks promising, but lately, I have had very poor success with recording software purchases (i.e. I get it and it ends up not really working out.) I just want to make sure this time.

Thanks so much for helping a noob out.

OK. Well, thanks. I'll work on things a little longer tonight and decide.
