Well I've got all the kits now (love the sale price) and learning a few more things as I go along. Solved the routing problem, and able to freeze the tracks now.
So, now I'm having problems with building a song in the arranger.
I start with an intro and I'm satisfied with what I have for the verse, but as soon as I try to make a change for an intro into the chorus that is where my problems begin. It happens to be on Bar 48 so I double click on it and make changes in the Rythm tab. Now I go back a few bars for a playback and find out that whatever changes I made on Bar 48 are now included on ALL the previous Bars.
So what am I'm doing wrong?
Also I may as well ask the proper way to save a Rythm, because sometimes I can retrieve it and other times I can't find it even though I named it.
Thanks,

Jamstix has 16 rhythm slots. If you make a change in one of them (regardless of what bar you are on) it affects the rhythm and therefore all bars that rhythm is played on.
In your situation, you should do this:
- click an unused rhythm into bar 48 in the arranger
- double-click it to go to the rhythm tab
- hit 'Paste' in the rhythm tab and select the desired base rhythm to work off
- change the rhythm as needed for bar 48

You can search by name in the right list but make sure the keywords in the middle are cleared then. The other way is to give your rhythm a good keyword like 'Notringo' and then you can always narrow the search list with it. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks Ralph that cleared up a few things.
I was using the name of the song for saving and hoped to go for ex. "Homecoming" for first Verses, "Homecoming chorus intro" for second save, but it says Homecoming already being used. Anyway not a big deal, I can manage my way around that.
I now understand that I have to use different Rythm slots if I want to change the beat. I did do that using a fill and then the paste method you suggested in the following bar...so far so good.
What I found on the third Rythm slot once I pasted the "Homecoming" in and made changes, was that changes in the Tom section effected the Tom section on the first Rythm slot??
Not sure what I did there, because it seemed to be working fine for awhile.
So what I have:
Rythm 0: homecoming beat
(Bar 48)Rythm 1: fill
(Bar 49)Rythm 2: homecoming beat with changes
The only thing I can think of now is that I didn't save the Rythm for Bar 49 under a different name. I was just playing it back to see if it fit the song. |

Remember that you do not need to save rhythms to the library. You only need to save them if you want to use a rhythm in multiple songs. When you save your song in your host, all data within Jamstix including the 16 rhythms are saved to the song data. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
