when i jam to "free jam" it just seems to play the same beat over & over, i cant even get it to hit the snare on the 2nd beat or downbeat. I've messed with all the adjustments & it just seems to play the same beat. How can i get the free jam to at leat play a straight ahead beat with the snare on 2nd note(thats just a basic 4/4). Or do i have to arrange & program a original beat of my own?? thanx for any help!!

Three ways:

a) Move the following sliders in the jam control panel all the way left:

- funkiness
- complexity
- accentuation
- fill frequency

You should now hear a simple 8th rock beat with snare on 2 and 4 and kick on 1 and 3.

Now raise the complexity if desired.

b) Use any settings you want but select 'Straight' for the snare style in the jam style panel. This will ensure snare on 1 and 3.

c) Go to the rhythm tab and hand-place the snare as needed on the generated rhythms.

Maybe its because i am using the demo, but after trying everything you suggested i still am unable to get a straight ahead rock beat w/snare on 2 & 4. i even went into the rhythm tab to manually program snare on 2 & 4. i will go over the owners manual again to see if i am missing something. I think jamstix is an awesome idea & i want to buy it however, ive been working with the demo for a wk now & still can't get it to do what i want it to do. 'i really do wish it was more user freindly' and i will give it a little more time to see if i can use it productively. thanx again for answering my newbie questions.

Method simply MUST work. Maybe some other settings are off. Please do this: using a Jamstix set-up that you think should produce the 1,2 snare straight beat, use 'Save Bank' in your host to save the state of Jamstix to a FXB file and then send that file to support[at]rayzoon.com so I can take a look at it and advise you better.
