Hi -

I've recorded a MIDI part, and then jammed to it by copying the MIDI part to a track with JS as output (as Ralph suggested in another thread). I can control the live jam as well as I could want at this stage, it's great. I then hit Manual Jam, edit a bit, and play through once.

The problem is when I "Export MIDI file" from ARRANGE and copy/paste it back to another MIDI track. I expected to see a JS-generated drum file ready to send to a drum synthesizer, but instead it's just the same old MIDI part.

I tried it another way, by rendering my initial MIDI part to audio, inserting audioM8, and jamming with that. After going through the above steps, the MIDI file looked empty when I pasted it back into Cubase SX.

Which steps am I missing here? I think I'm probably also not understanding something as well ... any help in either area would be much appreciated!

Thanks -

This all sounds correct.

The MIDI export of Jamstix cannot possible be identical to your instruments MIDI part. You must have made a mistake getting the exported MIDI file into your project.

Please double-check and reload that MIDI file from disk. If you still feel there is a problem, please send me the JS-generated MID file.

By the way, you can also add a MIDI track and set its input=Jamstix to directly record the Jamstix MIDI output instead of doing export/import.

Hi Zauni - You're suggestion worked fine. I wasn't able to make it work the way in the manual though. I wonder if I have a setting wrong - though I tried it with Enable MIDI Output (Console Panel > Options Panel) both yellow and black. I'm not quite sure what to do with "MIDI Channel Out" in Mapping Panel > Sound Panel > Internal.

And finally, I wonder if the fact that I've got a copy of my MIDI part in the MIDI track that has JS as its output might be causing a problem?

Anyway, Zauni I've PM'd you the MIDI file as you so kindly suggested.

Thanks!

Alexis
