Is it possible to change patterns part-way through a measure? I have a number of live loops set up, and I would like to switch through a measure. I find this gives a more realistic and interesting drum track, and I've gotten into the habit of doing this because of groove agent. For example, it would be nice to have a live loop for a chorus, and then on the third beat, switch to a one-measure fill loop.
GA had a really neat feature where if you hammer a note, you get a fill for that style and complexity level. So, you could set up a groove with one pattern that is nice and slow, then hammer a more complex pattern on the keyboard, get the fill and launch into a higher energy pattern. I was also able to shift between two patterns mid-measure to get subtle variations and changes.
As far as I can tell, jamstix seems to be locked into measures and you can't switch until the measure is completely finished. Any suggestions? I am trying to find techniques to make jamstix as playable and controllable in real time as I can get it. |
