Time sigs are tricky in the VST specification since the song position pointer only uses quarter notes with no reference to bar numbers etc.

In most hosts it works well with tempo tracks and time signature change events. Not sure how to do this in Samp though.

Jamstix 2 will support more time signatures natively eliminating the need for time sig changes during a song.

Odd time sigs would be of great help.

Hi Zauni,

Are there any plans to let people build a time sig out of sub-units.
Two examples from pretty well known tunes I have worked with:
11/8 (4:3:4),
20/8 (5:5:4:3:3)

If there were some facility to make up more unusual time sigs from subunits in this fashion and to specify where the accents are, Jamstixwould be able to jam along with anything.

This won't be in JS1 but we are working on it for JS2. There will be a mechanism to identify the structure of a bar so JS can handle it regardless of length. However, one major headache is that JS2 has a low-level editor built-in and for display complexity reasons we have limited it to a max of 11/8. We are still working on this but I cannot promise you anything above 11/8 right now though it is likely that we will continue to work on it even if the initial JS2 release doesn't have it.

Thanks for the update - can't wait to see JS2.
