I have the jamstix demo, and i'musing Sonar 5. I am unable to get jamstix to play unless the song itself is playing, which I guess is normal. However, if you're starting a new song, the song obviously has nothing to play, and so if you try to start the song, it stops immediately because there's nothing to play. At least this is what happens with Sonar. Consequently jamstix doesn't play. The only way to free jam with jamstix is to record. There must be some way to do this, right? Again, I'm trying to get jamstix to play despite the fact that there is nothing yet recorded in the song, which usually keeps Sonar from "playing" because there's nothing to play. Thanks

Hi Mick,
That is a Sonar thing. Unlike many other hosts, it just doesn't play unless it thinks there is something to play. There is nothing Jamstix can do about that as it is slaved to the host. Work-arounds are 'Recording' (as you already stated), adding an automation envelope and putting a node at a high number bar or putting a dummy note on any MIDI track at a high number bar. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Thanks. I also figured out another workaround that is pretty easy. Add a blank midi track, and put Session Drummer on it. Load any pattern at all into the "song" section. For now on Sonar will play even if nothing else is recorded. Simply mute the midi track with Session Drummer on it so you dont have to hear it and you're good to go. |

| By the way, since Session Drummer manages to do this, I bet there is a way you can make Jamstix do it also. One difference is Session Drummer is a midi effect. Maybe you guys could edit the Jamztix software so Sonar sees it as a midi effect, at least for when Jamstix is supposed to be reacting to midi data. Just a thought. |

That won't work. MIDI plugins in Sonar are something completely different than VSTi plugins. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
