|

Ralph
I have just noticed that Jamstix now has an icon to select the use of a controller to select operate the velocity slider.
This is Awesome!
I noticed that you can select a number from 1 upwards. Are these midi channels?
I have an old Yamaha keyboard that I use as a midi controller to play my VSTi pianos and Organs.
I'd love to use the modulation or pitch wheel to control the velocity slider... but the Jamstix velocity slider won't 'learn' the mod or pitch wheel...
Am I on the right track here? or do I need a midi unit with a dedicated volume volume pedal?

The number you want to pick is the controller number that you want to use to bring up or down the value of the Velocity slider "on the go" and also while recording midi automation for your Jamstix midi track.
It works great by the way! _________________ Marcus2323

Thanks for your encouragement and help.
Yesterday I went out and bought an M-Audio expression pedal. It was quite reasonably priced $69 (New Zealand dollars) Thats about $30 US.
It works really well and I'm thrilled.
Now I'm thinking that as many velocity based enhancements to Jamstix the better! Like options for a fill to play when you go into a certain velocity range... stuff like that?
can anyone think of any cool things that velocity could trigger?

Glad it worked for you. In Sonar in the midi track for Jamstix I use both Velocity and Reduction to get a wide variety of possibilities.
Remember to uncheck "Allow Reduction" in the Jam window to work them indipendantly.
Some examples of this method are:
- Full Velocity with only snare on 4th beat
- Low velocity with full kit playing (meaning no missed hits)
there might be a way to control both live....never tried Reduction live so I can't say for sure it works but as you now know for yourself, velocity works great.
I mentioned on an other post to be able to right click on a button or slider and have it "learn" what your controller is by moving the controller.
If Ralph and the genious' that wrote this great program are able, I'm sure it will be in Version 2.
I can't say enough good things about this program. It is so indepth and yet it can be so simple when you want it to. _________________ Marcus2323

Hey thanks buddy!
I was not aware of the 'allow reduction' feature.
I'll go test that out today.
Thanks for sharing!

This is indeed planned for Jamstix 2. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks Ralph.....
I noticed there are not as many updates to the betas like there was when I bought around 1.3. Jamstix must be near perfect then!!! It's unbelievable the changes that have been made and how much better the program is since then. Just when you thought it couldn't get better...bamm....another update!
No need to reply...just one very satisfied customer!
