I still love the combination of JAMSTIX's ability to play, write and arrange drum patterns... and I still think that The JAMSTIX sanrepak has the best snare samples EVER! But I still prefer the kit sound of BFD (I NEVER use BFD snares though)

Here's a question that I've been meaning to ask for ages:

What say I want to use jamstix as my 'beat generator', but I want to send the outputs to BFD (Simple enough so far).. but (here's the hard bit) I want to send everything in real time to BFD (I don't want to 'print' a midi track) BUT I want to use the JAMSTIX snare from within my initial instance of Jamstix?
So I'll be playing jamstix... through my arrangement... hearing my choice of Jamstix Snarepak snares... while the rest of the kit is sent to an external VSTi (BFD)

Can this be done? If so... How?

I feel like we've discussed this before but am not sure.

Here's how to do it:

- load Jamstix and load the 'Internal Silence' mapping. Now select the desired snare

- load BFD in the host, load the desired kit then silence its snares

- route the MIDI output of Jamstix to the MIDI input of BFD, depending on your host (Sonar 5 and Cubase: add a MIDI track with input=Jamstix and output=BFD, TRacktion: use a rack)

This should do it.

Yes, you need to map sounds as needed from JS to BFD. One quick way is to load a BFD mapping first, then switch to internal and then click the R button at the sample list to unload all internals. Now save that as 'BFD Internal Silence' or so as it will be a silent mapping with BFD key mappings.

Or you can just manually map keys.
