|
|
Is there any documentation or can anyone post a few basic steps on creating a custom map for Jamstix? I have several awesome Sonic Reality/Sampletank libs that contain some smoking kits in their "i-Map" format. The folks at Sonic Reality have finally posted the i-map specs and I would like to try and create a drum map to use with Jamstix.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers! |

Hi
First , load up Jamstix, then click the External VSTi switch in the Sounds panel on the Mapping tab. Locate your Sonic Reality/Sampletank VSTi.
Once you have it loaded, you need to tell Jamstix which sound has been mapped to which key. Many of the sounds may be mapped correctly by default. To make sure you can audition them by selecting a Sound (e.g. Kick) and seeing which key on the keyboard it has been mapped to. You can also click the Audit button to hear the sound.
There are loads of sounds which can be mapped, so you can make the most of your drum library.
When you are happy with your settings, click the Save button and give your mapping a name.
Hope that helps!

Alan,
Thanks so much for the help...I am making some progress...however:
The iMap format has many more descriptors/sounds than contained within the "sound" dropdown list in Jamstix. Sure I can assign "Kick" and "Snare" but iMap has stuff like "Kick Soft Alt" "Snare Center" "Ride Edge" all with their own unique sound samples etc etc. How can I handle these within Jamstix? Is there an .ini file I can edit or something?
Also - does the little Keyboard button actually work? The little help balloon (Bottom) says to press a key on my keyboard (like my Roland controller?) and then to click this button to change the letter location.
Cheers! |

They are alternate hit positions for these sounds. The only one that you can specifically assign in Jamstix is the snare rimshot.

Works for me. Hit the key and then hit the icon and the key will be selected. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hmm...I think I am confused. So - let's say the letter location is set to C1 in that little select list. Then I press like B1 on my physical keyboard and then click the icon and the little box should say "B1"? |

Yep.
Of course, make sure your host is routing MIDI to Jamstix. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Using Nuendo here. Should be good to go....but then again....I better check it out...
But - if I can't really set up a correct Jamstix map to include all these extra iMap samples...maybe I will just stick with standard GM stuff....
Cheers!
