| Any metalheads out there? If so, what do you recommend from the Jamstix drums for modern metal or modern hard rock? If I can avoid buying dfhs I will. I have drumpacks #1 and #2 and the snare pak. Just looking for a different perspective. Thanks, Tim |

My quick recommendation is to use DP2 with any snare from SnarePak that fits a specific song best. Use the 'Stereo Width' in the output tab to narrow the stereo image as you hear in many metal songs.
For 'wetter' mixes use normal DP2 sounds with ambience. For the modern 'very dry' sound, use close-stereo (CS) mappings.
Compression and volumes depend on the specific mix. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Here's a quick demo of a DP2 ambient mapping with a SnarePak snare. I have a good amount of ambience in there but with a narrow stereo width it sits tightly in the middle and won't overpower the left right sections of the mix.
The sounds are split across several outputs. The kick has some boosted mids and upper low-end, the snare has booted lower highs and the hats have boosted highs as well.

if you want to experiment with this, I have posted the FXB (Save Bank) as well. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Hey Ralph, Thank You! I really like the sound. It's very close to what I'm going for. I'm off to experiment. Tim |
