Hey Ralph,

Just bought Jamstix a few days ago and finally got it up and running. Everything seems to work fine except for Free Jam audio mode. I'm using Sonar PE 5.1 and everytime i hit Play/Record to start my jam, the velocity slider jumps to zero and there is no sound (or barely discernable). I can pull on the velocity slider to move it up (and bring the volume of the drums up), but it just jumps back to zero (and is actually "fighting" to jump back while i pull at it!). It's like it's midi-automated or controlled (i checked the event list - no midi events) - very weird. I'm getting output thru the AudioM8 plug when i play - the needle is jumping good, but i can't tell how good the input into Jamstix is because of the velocity slider issue.

BTW, It works great in midi Free Jam mode.

Thanks for a great product at an affordable price,

- Billy

Hi Billy and welcome to the board!

The slider moving to zero indicates that Jamstix does not see the audio signal. Please check the following:

- that Jamstix is in the synth rack and not the fx bin of an audio track
- that the little red LED in the right bottom corner of Jamstix lights up
- that the input trim knob is in the middle position
- that the input velocity map in the mapping tab is linear

Ralph,

- Appreciate the quick response. I cranked up the trim knobs on my Mackie inputs and restarted Sonar - everything seems to be fine now except for a latency in the velocity slider reaction to the audio. I've been playing around with the input velocity map and have improved it some. Any other tips that might help with this for guitar recording/Freejam Jamstix?

Thanks,

- Billy

Hi Billy,
The 'Free Jam Quick Start' PDF in the Jamstix manual folder has some fine-tuning tips.

I suggest you experiment with the little vertical slider in the right bottom corner of Jamstix which controls the smoothing and thus the response time.
