I ask because everytime I hear someone talking about Jamstix, they are using it to control BFD, DFHS or other known great sounding drum software. So I figure that the sounds within Jamstix and it's add on drum sound packs are not so great....?
Is Jamstix a good software to use solely on it's own? I myself am mostly looking for something to use with playing/recording with my e-drums btw.
Thanks, Steve |

Thanks, Steve | I use Jamstix on its own and have no intention of even looking at BFD, DFHS, or others. The sounds are very good and very usable. The addon drumkits are excellent as well. _________________ darcyb62 |

Actually all the sounds in Jamstix are MUCH better than you´d expect...
I have DFHS, too, but I find myself using Jamstix nearly all the time now.
And with the release of the subsequent Drum Paks it´s just getting better and better.
Incredible value for money here, I can´t emphasize that too much! |

I uninstalled BFD today, because it was so slow, and used up so much disc space.
The Jamstix Drumpaks sound (imho) as good, if not better, and they cost a fraction of the BFD price.

Man, I'm so glad I discovered Jamstix just in time! I was thinking about getting DFH but now I will get Jamstix and from the money I save I will get Musiclab's Real Guitar! |

Fantastic program and fantastic sounds. I used to have 40 gigs of drive space taken up with drum samplers, groove agent, recycle, tons of loops and hits, used to spend hours just layering a good kit up and then spend days trying to make it all sound like a real drummer, now my drum tracks are done in a couple of hours and i have dumped all the sounds and progs and freed up all that space.
Keep up the good work Ralph
Roll on jambass then i can forget about playing my poxy bass guitar and finally concentrate on what i am best at....Guitar |

The drumsounds that come with the JAMSTIX are ok... when you hear them you are immeadiately surprised at how good they sound for simple 'stock' sounds in a drum sampler/machine ... but if you play them and them listen to BFD straight after... you will notice that the BFD do sound more 'huge' and even more 'real'... but.......
BUT!!
As I have stated eleswhere in this forum... Ralph's addon packs are getting VERY good and certainly his snares sound better than anyone else is doing....
The beauty of Jamstix is that it is a dream to operate... it is everything it claims to be and more... you get a piece of software that will help you write songs and you will LOVE it....
You get to choose whether you use the 'just average' stock samples... or go for the above average addon packs... or pick any samples on the market from other companies and ruote jamstix through them!
You just can't lose!

| Personally I think that the JamStix sounds are all phenominal... especially the drumpaks!! I used to desire BFD, etc., but now that I have JamStix and all the drumpaks (which are incredibly inexpensive) I am happy! |

I purchased Jamstix just around a week ago, along with Drumpak 1.
At the price I couldn't resist.
I personally feel that the program and the sounds are excellent. I admit that I haven't heard BFD or DFH, so can't comment on those - but I have no complaints about Jamstix. |

Hello, thank you everyone for all your replies
Well from the responces here, it certainly seems like the sounds within Jamstix & the add-on packs are at least very decent. In looking at the various drum software's, Jamstix seems like a good value, and with the current discounts, an even better value!
Hearing from others in my Cubase.net forum, there is praise, especially regarding ease of use & for the on-the-fly drum parts.
PS, Ralph, I'll have a listen to those links |

Jamstix is a great product and the drums are very good. You may find that for specific tunes you might want to use BFD or DFHS. That would be a personnal preference. Given the price of Jamstix, there's no way you can go wrong and the support? you won't get this anywhere else. _________________ Pentium Dual Core 3.2GHz

Thanks guy's,
I've listened to all the examples on Rayzoon site. None of them are bad at all, though compared to the BFD & DFHS samples given there is a noticable improvement in sound...But then we're talking about $300.00 for those programs!
I know of others using Jamstix along side with their other drum software's sounds. I can see how someone without a way to lay drums down on their own would find Jamstix extremely valuable to have around. In fact, even though I have edrums, and I'm mostly interested in intergrading software drum samples with my DAW recordings...the ability to use Jamstix for it's jam features & laying down basic drum parts fast over my music is interesting...Maybe even a combination Jamstix & edruming can be used together...?
Yes, there's no doubt about the value/cost effectiveness in this very interesting program.
